Cameras on A635 b/w Ashton-under-Lyme and Mossley
Discussion
Hello ! Sorry, for cross-posting, and I hope you don't mind me popping into your forum, but thought someone here might be able to help me.
I took a trip up north today, and spotted some cameras of a type I've not seen before, and was wondering whether they were speed cameras or just sensors linked to the 'Slow down - 30' signs you get.
The first one was as I came out of Ashton on the 635, it was facing me on the other side of the road, but seemed to be pointing straight at me. It didn't flash, although I'm fairly certain I was speeding (it was a wide road and 40 felt safe, although further down the road I noticed it was in fact a 30 zone). The second I spotted on my way back home, as I came round the corner and into a dip, heading back towards Ashton it was, again, on the opposite side of the road, but this time there was also a 'slow down - 30' sign which lit up. So is it a speed camera, or just a sensor. Neither camera flashed, but do these sort flash ?
Anyone ?
Cheers
Penny
BTW, was lovely day up there today, and miserable, grey and wet in the midlands. So much for 'grim up north' !

i've passed that camera lots of times at lots of different speeds!don't know what it is,there are quite a few of them in that part of the woods, some painted blue others a vile shade of green, they don't show up on a snooper,so i'm in the dark like you.interested to know if they are scameras, to see if i've been lucky in the past!

Yes they are....
Got a mate with a ticket from the one down near the school...
But I think theyre pretty lenient.
I dont think your mate got copped by one of these new boxes (since they are all fakes). There are a couple of older Gatsos in the area (painted black) that are sponsored by Tameside council and have one camera to share between a large number of sites.
Basically if there are no reference marks on the road you are safe
It's called the 'watchman scheme' and cost £60000 for about 10 sites. A Gatso costs >£30000; you do the maths.
yer right....asked him again. and it was in Hyde...
DUH.
Sorry if I caused unessesary stress.
(although he swears blind it was the same type thats on Lees new road.)
ahem....edited cos I just realised that I;m talking about a road at right angles to the one you were on.
