Days out with the kids over Christmas

Any decent recommendations of days out with kids over the Christmas period?

Ours are 4, 2 and 1 - so rules out likes of skiing etc.

Thinking of a couple of options at present - a guy at work has recommended Trentham Gardens near Stoke, and i quite fancy Brockholes village near Preston.

Need an indoors-y type place though - just in case.

Bury Transport Museum might be a nice push for kids into the world of petrolhead-ism!

MOSI, in central Manchester always pleased my son from an early age, lots of trains, planes n auto mobiles, etc.
