North West regional assembly....
Discussion
Mmmm yes and no. Far more success for the Northwest region is likely with policies focussed on NW issues. Some success is already apparent in East Manchester. I am impressed with Steve Broomhead and his efforts so far. The regional agenda will at least fight our corner and repel the southern agenda. Strong local politicians with big budgets and real power ought to be a step in the right direction. The downside is we will have to vote for idiots otherwise the wrong idiot might get in and the civil servants will be crap as usual. If they are not crap they will be crushed into hiding and waiting for their pension, the same as the Whitehall lot. We need two tunnels, one from Hull to Rotterdam and another from Liverpool to Ireland, then we will have faster links to European industry than the South east and we can grow faster than Eire did in the last 20 years. Why do I get a feeling it will all go horribly wrong though as soon as the objective 1 status is removed?
