Evening North Westerners & Others.....

Looking for some suggestions for accomodation *somewhere* in the lake district.

Not to fussed about where exactly but ideally walkable to one of the lakes - be it Windermere, Derwent, Coniston or any of the others.

Other than that the floor is yours.

Budget - upto £150 per night for the room rather than per person though!

It'll be a Thursday & Friday night.

Thank you's in advance.

I stayed here a while back, its not badly priced. Its not overlooking the lake or anything like that but theres a few nice pubs etc around. The lake is in walking distance and the steam cruise is a good way to kill some time, so can hire motorboats to.

Queens in Tiryl...not sure of the spelling but I've stayed there for three nights every year for 8 years. It's a pub with a great restaurant and clean rooms

Howbeck is looking possible.

Rissotto - did you miss the bit about 150 quid a night budget wink

The Samling - £330 and the t'other one - £315

And thats for the Thursday night!

They do look nice though......

Also considering the

The Beech Hill

and

The Langdale

if anyone has any feedback on either of them?

Nicely positioned between Windermere and Ambleside, lovely location with views over the lake. Been a while since we were there, but the food was excellent. The lake is pretty much just across the road(ish).

A bit biased as we got married here.

Oops - sorry, didn't realise they were that price these days! The Punch Bowl is a lovely place and should be in budget but I admit it's not on the doorstep of any actual lakes.

I've spent a few nights in the Storrs Hall Hotel in Bowness on Windermere. The hotel is on the banks of Lake Windermere.

Highly recommended! Not sure on price, as I never paid for it, everyone's water bills did wink

The Inn on the Lake at Ullswater is a fantastic place. Been there a few times and the staff are always friendly and helpful, rooms good and it's very relaxing (especially during the summer chilling out by the lake with a beer smile).

I can recommend the Langdale Chase. Get room 20, great views over Windermere to the Langdale Pikes.

I got married there a few years ago, so if you do stay in room 20, be aware that you're probably sleeping on the remnants of my crusty old jizz.

Langdale - similar story.

I'm currently loking at this place.....

Any feedback on it?

Its about 20 min from Windermere but does look nice and has favourable reviews.

Have you considered renting a lodge for a weekend? Might be something a little different

Booked the Langdale.

Blew the budget. They didn't have any cheap rooms available for the Thursday night and i'd got it into my head that this is where I was going to stay.

They had an ultimate room left so I booked that.

Review will follow, once we get back.

We've got a place in walking distance of Langdale. Lots to do there, a variety of restaurants and bars. If your Mrs wants any treatments at the Spa it's generally better to book before you go, because you will be competing with the Timeshare owners who are there for the same week every year and will book in advance.

The Britannia in Elerwater is good for a pint of Bluebird and a good atmosphere, but not great food and is a 2 min walk.

The Eltermere Inn (www.eltermere.co.uk) does good food and is also within walking distance. Had I seen your post earlier, my recommendation would have been to stay at the Eltermere, it's a very nice hotel and restaurant with good service and good views down the valley.

Wainwrights is also within walking distance and is owned by Langdale, the food is OK bar food.

All the above have log fires.

You can walk to Grassmere from Langdale (1hr) and there's a few nice restaurants there too.

Let me know if you want any other info.
