Aikido-Manchester...recommendations
Discussion
Can you define why you want to try Aikido specifically?
In terms of a "fighting art" its 95% pointless (and the only guy in the UK I know who could teach it as a fighting art has just died). If you like meditation fine, but if you want to get anything practical, and still wear PJ's, try Judo. All the good points of Aikido, none of the bullst and its lots of fun.

Whereabouts in Manchester are you looking?
There is this place that teaches near me and has a few clubs scattered around. I couldn't say whether they are any good or not though.

When I trained in traditional Wado Ryu years ago (for 9yrs) I briefly touched on Aikido and even trained in a few classes. I really liked it. It was more flow and smooth motion. I really liked it.
I don't buy into any sort of Japanese-Disneylandafacation that some English trainers go into though. Its the form and function I care about.
