On the rather damp Wirral Peninsular, it's currently hailing! . . . .Could everybody please go out and get a petrol range rover (or equivalent) as we need to give global warming a helping hand!

i noticed, un-bleedin'-believeable!! trying to get my decking down and finished but no bloody chance tonight.

If I recall GCSE Geography (see - it is useful for something!) hail formation is less to do with atmospheric temperature and more to do with rapid cooling of air during evaporation.
