About four years ago I got a company in Cheadle Hulme to re-cover some car seats in leather, and they did a great job.

I'm after getting some more seats done - any recommendations from anyone on here? I'll get a price also from the chap who did the last set, but all help gratefully received.

Thanks.

I just had a bolster replaced and some patches to the roof by Pete Lenton in Cheadle. Seemed a nice chap, reasonable price I thought too.

Many thanks to all for the replies, and I’ll contact all the craftsmen you’ve recommended for estimates and timescales as well as getting a handle on what they’re doing. A recommendation is great!

I’ll let you know – the last set were for an MR2 Roadster, these will be Recaros

Pete did my chairs (the chairs for my wife’s car) last time around, and I was very happy with the result , however I am always interested to see what else is out there and at what cost.

Thanks once more, update to follow (probably September, realistically).

With apologies for the delay, I'll post an update later this week - I've just been a bit busy.

By way of a half update,

MJ Interiors I'm waiting to hear from (phone was engaged so I emailed them via their website in the end)

Pete Lenton wants a look at the chairs and will give me a quote (four years back he reckoned on £450+ ish, so I guess it'll be a little more now.

Autotrim reckoned the job will be a pain, as they're familiar with the seat design but they're happy to have a look the seats - they reckon something north of £600 subject to having a look.

I've not spoken to trimtecknic yet - something to do next week.

The car is on SORN now so I'll whip the seats out and do the rounds with them to the companies recommended.

Thanks and regards, update to follow.

Apologies for the delay (note to self, must try harder).

Pete Lenton in Cheadle Hulme redid the seats in my wife's 53 facelift MR2 Roadster. Black leather, contrasting yellow stitching, and MR2 logo embroidered into the backs. Also had heating plates fitted at the same time.

He's done some Recaros for my Porsche too - contrasting black and grey leather (I started this thread) - I really rate him.

I have seen the work of www.bielawskissheffieldtrimming.co.uk and was very impressed, will use them at some point when I need to outsource. Not a million miles from you.

Bodie, is this photo your own, and if so could I please knick it to use in a business capacity? It shows leather grain well, to teach clients about leather ID.

Thanks very much. It may be on my website soon! Pressing leather in with a finger shows that sort of crinkle, which PU/ bicast or bonded leather doesn't as it has no grain (all cr4p substitutes to the real thing which I won't touch) when scopping out work remotely it will be a good visual for a customer to see when I suspect it's not the real mccoy that's failed etc.
