I'm off on my holibobs from Manchester airport in late November and need an airport hotel and parking arranging.

Anyone got any recommendations?

My priority is to be as close to the airport as possible (sounds daft but if I save a tenner by staying a short distance away and then get held up by a huge snowfall I will feel a right prick)

Also, looking for somewhere that allows the car to be parked and retrieved with the minimum hassle, if possible I'd prefer that it didn't have to be valet parked but that's not essential.

Any recommendations welcome smile

Crowne Plaza. In the airport complex, shuttle buses, and nice food and bar for the carb load prior to horrible flying.

Hmm, just checked the Crowne via Manchester.airporthotels.com and it comes out at £116 per night, not daft but a little higher than I'd hoped, but the site also presented:-

  • Premier Inn (2 miles) - £72 including parking at Jet Parks with transfer back to the hotel
  • Bewleys Airport hotel (on airport)- £80, valet parking included, although guessing this only returns the car to the hotel rather than the airport so will still need to faff about with shuttle buses on return.
I think I'm starting to lean towards the Premier Inn as it involves no one else driving my car and is, essentially, walkable if the weather was too bad for shuttle buses etc.

Unless anyone has anything bad to say? smile

Which terminal? Book your parking in advance at the airport website and I would recommend using the "Official Airport" car parks. They are marked as "long stay" and are withing walking distance of the terminals. However there are shuttle buses that will pick you up and drop you off that run frequently.

*Bewleys Airport hotel
Bewleys is right next door to the Crowne Plaza, I used to stay at Bewleys but found that the Plaza has been cheaper on the last few times I flown. Both are in walking distance of T1 if you were really that bothered and/or had minimal baggage.

My mother once stayed at the Crowne Plaza and they lost her car keys so had to pay for a taxi 150 miles home and sort out getting her car back to them. Found the restaurants in CP to be a bit of a rip off but these places tend to be as such.

ETA I prefer just leaving my car at the hotel for them to sort rather than get up, find parking then shuttle to the terminal, If you're flying at some un-Godly hour extra time in bed is good. There are one or two places where you park your car and it's then not moved i.e. you take the keys, if you're worried about it being moved. Can't remember which ones now though, my brother used to use them as he wasn't happy with the thought of someone potentially kicking the teeth in of various nice-ish cars he's owned over the years.

From what I can gather from the website I've looked at, if I stay at Premier Inn then i self-park at the Jet Park facility next to the airport, there's a shuttle bus to the hotel.

In the morning I just take the shuttle to the terminal (don't know which one yet!) and upon my return get the official airport shuttle bus back to Jet Park, get in car, drive off.

What could possibly go wrong? After all, at the same time last year the headlines were all about blankets of freezing snow, all that stands between me and Manchester is the highest motorway in England lol.

We rarely have any snow in November, let alone amounts enough to cause problems on the roads into Manchester airport?

I'd second that... and if there WAS enough snow to cause road problems, I suspect it might knacker your flight plans anyway.

It might be rare, but it hit last year at more or less the exact time that I'm due to travel lol.

I take the point about heavy snow probably knackering the flight anyway though, good point!

Go for the premier hotel and with advance booking you may even get the £29 deals.

Same with parking at the airport, plenty of deals to be had.

Don't worry about taking the airport bus you can get around on the walkways quicker.

I work at the airport and the roads are clear snow or not.
