I've been assigned to a project in the Crewe area for circa 12-18 months.

Any advice on places to stay or avoid. I'll be gone by lunchtime on a Friday so the weekend nightlife doesn't matter. Ideally a quiet town with things going on, local pub and access to decent ammenities, restaurants, shopping centres etc.

Will be looking for a house share of some sort although I'm not concerned as of now as I can stay in hotels until I feel ready.

Advice!?

Have a look at Alsager. A few decent pubs, several decent restaurants, pretty much all the shops you need locally and plenty of rental properties available, plus a couple of hotels and a few B&B's. Trains go straight into Crewe about every 30 minutes. Some bits are best avoided, but even the villains are small time.

I think that's where the lad I'll be sharing a flat with has been looking (Nantwich).

Much to do of an evening bar the usual (pub, dining out, gym etc.)?

I'm an 'Algerian' - ditto above. There are I feel more restraunts/pubs than an average place this size but it is still relatively small. For anything other than food basics you'd need to leave town. Stoke's close but.. is Stoke. Manchester is about 45/50 minutes by car, or the train from nearby Kidsgrove is direct and about £10 return.

Nantwich is a bit posher and bigger in general.

My current lodgers are in the process of leaving so will be renting out again probs. in August time whistle Are you by any chance a 21 year old Blonde dancer?

Lodgers in another property or living in with you? Reason I ask is an 'all in' rate would be ideal. Don't fancy setting up bills, council tax, internet and the like! I just need a bed a shower and would be back up the A1 on a Friday morning until Monday night.

Not sure it has come through. Maybe my settings are wrong. I'm dropped you a line so you should be able to pick up my e-mail address from that.

Thanks!

I'd recommend that you don't move to Crewe, it's a bit st in places. Nantwich, Sandbach, Alsager and Winterly are nice places, all have plenty of pubs, less so in Winterly. Alsager is the cheapest for car insurance, not a lot of crime occurs there. All of the above places are about 10 minutes from Crewe.

There are two pretty big gyms in Crewe too, Bannatynes and Total fitness.

Hope that helped, ask more questions if you have any.
