yes i have read it... we are at the very edge of the red bit in the middle, as I said. We're the green bit on the right, though we may look to move a little more rural soon

This has caught my eye. Little bit more than I’d like to spend, but a nice road, pretty quiet, across from the botanic gardens and not too far away from a few amenities.

bit O/T maybe but you could get a larger house with a massive garden for a lot less in the town. It's very sensitive to area, but I've never encountered a place in the north west that has such a proliferation of gigantic grand houses. Many of them are in a state of disrepair though so a war chest is essential.https://www.christinsley.co.uk/properties/15045069...
I'm a Gas Engineer and was involved in the conceptual stage, including below ground and above ground assets associated with HyNet.
I'm still involved in elements going forward and the wider transition from natural gas to hydrogen.
What you do you need to know, I shall try to help, where I can?

Very helpful thank you. Well, i've since met with HyNet and their agents dealing with the consultation and planning matters. I'm less worried about the disruption or other downsides of the pipeline dig itself now. It seems there is a 'leave it better than you found it' principle they want to uphold, but clearly nothing is as yet confirmed. I'm really more bothered about our proximity to the above ground infra; particularly the central Hub. That would be devastating if it was built next door. Again though, having spoken with Hynet, it seems the target area for the Hub may not be close, so i think we could be OK. They are targeting an area with fewer residences, and more brownfield. I live in an area where there is a lot of reserved agri, archaeological/heritage, walking routes, protected woodland and waterways and things. Possibly a no-brainer which they would choose to dig up, but i wanted to be sure. They may still run the north/south pipe near us, but i don't know how they would manage to do that and to cross the river weaver in an easy manner so maybe that won't run too close either. I put a fair sized letter into HyNet so they at least are in possession of the info now. I'm still involved in elements going forward and the wider transition from natural gas to hydrogen.

Our next/last move will probably be to Southport (or within a mile or two of it). Something between 5-750k will get you a really nice period property.
Ridiculously late to the party, but of all the places I've lived I love Southport the most. Edited by MDMA . on Monday 21st February 18:55
No real traffic issues, a plethora of decent detached houses from £250k right up to £1m+ and plenty to do.
We're at the low end of the above scale at the moment, but will be purchasing something period around Churchtown next time and I'm looking forward to the chaos a 100+ year old house shall bring in terms of renovation and maintenance.

Not a bad move at all, if you do make the 'jump' I'm sure I'll see you in one of the local watering holes.

This is off topic I know and I'm not totally au fait with forum etiquette but I would like to get in touch with Blown2CV as I have recently purchased a Purple Paradise TVR Chimaera 500 which I believe he used to own. Thanks, Simon Riley
ah fantastic! PM me, happy to chat. Can anyone help? I'm trying to PM Blown2CV (see previous posts on this thread) as he suggested but this site won't let me PM him (in fairness I've never done a PM before). Would one of you PM him on my behalf and ask him to PM me - I've recently bought a Chimaera 500 which I believe he owned in the late 2000's and I'd really like to ask him about his ownership experiences. Thanks, Simon
Thanks for trying to get in touch Blown2CV. I've checked on my profile and it is the correct email address - and the PH website says it's valid so I'm at a bit of a loss. How can we contact each other without compromising each others privacy, I'm not really up on these things - I don't know if it helps but my wife has a Facebook account.

i think the forum messaging part of the account settings is separate:https://www.pistonheads.com/members/editProfile.as...
have a look in there
Thanks Blown2CV - I've already updated all the preferences I can see and unfortunately it made no difference.
Here's a suggestion - would you be happy to call the TVR specialist I recently bought the car from and I'll instruct him to give you my number, I've got your name from all the invoices etc. in the car's history file.
