Burnt out car on A27
Discussion
Just travelled back from the new forest today. Just as we were comming into chichester there was a burnt out car at the side of the road. No idea what it was due to the state it was in but it was mid engined and must have been either composite or fibreglass body. Did look ferrari like but had wrong wheels (bbs style wheels).
Anyone know what it was?

Many moons ago when I was a lad, my Dad and I were members of the Kingston Post Office Rifle Club and I will always remember one particular evening the club door flew open and some red faced desperate fella was stood there saying that his car was on fire and that he needed to use a fire extinguisher. The necessary apparatus was duly dispatched but in the short time that it had taken for the poor man to leave his fire threatened ride, find some help and return, it was gone! Now the car concerned WAS a Reliant Robin, so no real loss there on the grand scale of things but it was a most graphic display of how quickly plastic cars burn to the ground.
I now have a plastic car myself and have two plumbed in anti fire systems and one hand held extinguisher under the dash, lesson well learned.
The picture of the charred Lotus above is truly heart breaking, a great shame

There's a feature on Autotrader about the unusualy high number of exotics and collectable cars which have developed catastrophic fires over recent months. I guess that's another one for the stats. It is always a shame to see the rare ones go up in smoke.
It's easier than trying to sell them!normalbloke said:
