Chaps,

I need a couple of chips sorted out on the leading edge of the VX's driver door. Anyone know any decent bodyshops in the Gosport/Fareham area who can work with fibreglass?

The one I've used before has quoted me £150+ and I think he may be taking the michael slightly.

Many thanks

Vaughan

Colourworks near Crown Bingo are pretty good, I know quite a few people who've used them and had good experiences, not particularly cheap mind.

Then there's Gosport Accident Repairs in the Sanderson Centre (again, round back of Crown Bingo) - I used them personally twice and they were superb. It was not fibreglass in my case but I've had a few friends have damage to bodykits repaired there.

Finally there's Segensworth Automobiles - they did the paintwork on the Coupe and were first class. I don't know whether or not they do fibreglass but I'd imagine so.

Segensworth Automobiles - 01489-581677
Gosport Accident Repair Centre - 023 92580384
Colourworks - 023 92502608

Cheers Dan. It was actually Gosport Accident and Repair Centre who quoted me before. They sprayed my hardtop peviously and did an excellent job; I just wondered whether their quote for this work was slightly higher than it should be - it's only one chip and a few marks on the edge of the door.

I used to live right opposite Crown Bingo so it was very handy!

Yeah, I only used them the first time because I was living in Priddys Hard just off Britannia way and so they were very convenient. Same with the Segensworth one, we were living in Titchfield so it was just around the corner. Now it's Alverstoke so I just need to find one near there tongue out

I'm not terribly uptodate with bodyshop prices, but I know when I've had things before regardless of the work needing done the price will only go down so far I can't think of the right word. But a benchmark I guess that it starts from which always seems to be around £100 with most bodyshops I've used.

That's why I'm just going to spray the grille on the Coupe red again myself instead of getting it done right wink Spray Cans at 50 paces!

Does that little garage up by the church do bodywork? I'm just off Clayhall Road.

I'm ON Clayhall road! I don't know about that one - I tend to use A&S Motors by the firestation for everything non bodywork related as I've don't know anyone who's had a bad experience with them!

Actually now I've looked I remember seeing your car the other day when I was walking up to the village!

Hah, awesome! What a small world. I'm actually on Waterloo Road, just off the bottom end of Clayhall Road.

I tend to use Cawte & Elms on Cambridge Road for everything as I work just up from there, and I can drop the car off & walk to the office.

Cambridge Road, where I also used to live briefly tongue out

I know Waterloo Road, I quite often cut up there when I go for a run. What's the pub just down from there like, the Fighting Cocks? I quite often wonder past but I've never actually been in incase I get stabbed....

I think I went in once when I lived on Fort Road, but I was only 17 so my memory is faded tongue out

The Fighting Cocks is ok. I played footy for their Sunday League side a couple of times. The landlord, Jason, is quite friendly and will come and have a chat and a pint with you if it's quiet. He's made an effort to turn it into a family-friendly pub - big beer garden out the back too which is great in the summer.

As with a lot of pubs in Gosport, it looks a bit of a dive but if you give it a chance it's ok....my local used to be Madeleine's on Forton Road; now there was a rough pub!

I don't know if you have a garage but if you're ever stuck for tools, I have loads you can make use of. Good to see another local PHer.

I might check it out then - it's a bit closer than my usual pub up in Fareham tongue out

We don't have a garage sadly, if you ever head down the haslar end you'll see the two cars from our house - an M-Reg red Rover Coupe and a dark blue 53 Reg Mondeo ST. I might take you up on the offer of tools at some point though as we might be getting a track sg tongue out

Dan, is your car parked right outside your house now?

Because if so I think your house backs onto mine! What can you see out your back window?

It was pretty much on Friday. If I look out my back window there's a bunch of houses, unsurprisingly. A gap between two of them which you can see the memorial thing through. But yeah, I've just looked at google and we do back onto Waterloo road. How weird is that redface

You'll be able to tell if it's ours - it's white and has no blind on my bedroom window (redface)

The ST is usually outside the front door (It's there now) as my housemate is a copper at the dockyard so he very rarely drives it anywhere.

Hello Dan,

If you look out of your bedroom window, there should be a row of houses with a gap to the left and a gap to the right. My house is the last in the row before the left-hand gap.

I think either you or your neighbours had a few parties in the summer at night, sounded rock and roll! smile

Haha, I wouldn't know mate - we only moved in in November tongue out Proper pikeys on one side of us though, and I think the other side is an old guy who may/may not be dead...

I know which one you are now though - I'm only there till the end of the month as we found somewhere that wasn't falling apart and where we could actually have a cooker in the kitchen (what a crazy idea) for less than the landlord wanted to put the rent upto tongue out

Moving down Clarence Yard way now, it's quite nice smile
