Anyone else seen or heard about a figure 8 racetrack behind matchams near hurn in bournemouth?

i looked on google maps and sure enough its right behind the matchams raceway where they do the banger racing.

I wonder when they open it or who the track belongs too.

Its part of the MOD test track off of Matchams Lane, apart from the odd special event, i know they once held a sunseeker rally stage on the site, its not normally open to the public

I went to the stage on the military proving rounds there a few years ago.... they were brilliant!
Can't recall it using the figure of 8 though!

This land was used by Forest Edge Kart Club once a month for many years up until 2004 when the Ministry said their insurance was getting too high to run motor events. I raced there many times and had a great time staying there over race weekends. They have now moved to Barton Stacey - www.fekc.co.uk. See you at Wickham Square Boxing Day with my red Ultima - weather permitting!

It's a lame site(IMHO) but I have heard it's no longer in use.

I recently found a way into this site, albeit pretty dam bumpy. Not sure if it's something I would do again though, I live a few miles away, tempting as it is, it's MOD land and they will not take to it kindly if they find you hammering around. Much easier to take a hours drive or so to Keevil / Castle Combe / Abingdon.

If you look in the new forest - you can find a few disused runways and they are still accessible if you know how.
