Last night well at 01.25am this morning we (myself, mrsxllifts and minime) were travelling wwest bound from Chichester towards Havant at a steady 60mph.

We were approaching the second bridge that goes over the A27 westbound when some ahole thought it would be funny to throw a tennis ball sized piece of concrete at our van.

Now luckily we had time to see this and take evasive action but the concrete struck the van just above the windscreen causing £800 worth of damage to a 3 week old van.

Add to this we had my Nipper with us if that had hit the van 2" lower it would have come through the windscreen and almost certainly killed my 10 year old.

This is a heads up for anyone who uses that stretch of road to be really really alert.

It has been reported to the Police but as usual they aren't bothered too much.

I really don't get these mindless fkwits at all, they could have killed a little lad and at the worst caused a major road accident causing other fatalities.

If anybody see's similar or any suspicious activity along that stretch of raod could they please let the Police so we can collate some evidence that this is occuring.

Take care and thanks in advance for any help.

slightly O/T but a few years ago i managed to get hold of two kids who were throwing things at cars from a bridge, i was very surprised i managed to run fast enough biggrin

told them to either take me to their parents or i'd call the police - went down the police route.

Really iritates me when people damage other peoples things because they're bored - then there is the danger aspect!

Thanks for the heads up on this.

I use this route often normally in a 32 tonner so not much chance of evasive action.

You would think the police would be interestred as it's potential to comit murder / manslaughter.
Remember Micky Little RIP M3 Camberley that poor man moved his 40ton Artic
onto the hard before he died avoinding what could have involved other innocent people.

If i was not suffering a dislocated neck i would have chased them down a killed them believe me.

It wasn't that long ago that this sort of thing was unheard of whats happening to society?

That's fking unbelievable, yet in today's society it's totally believable.

The funny thing is, if they get caught they will just get a slap on the wrist. Bring back corporal punishment I say.

I don't know what's more shocking, the low life that do this sort of thing or the lack of apparent action/interest by the police. I would call them again as the day shift might be more interested.
I use this stretch of test track road quite a bit and hate to think of something falling out of the night sky at me tbh yikes

Thankfully I don't use that road much, I can understand your anger, I would be spitting poison and ripping the little s limb from limb if they got anywhere near my family!

I'm glad you and yours are OK!

When I was younger I couldn't even have thought of doing any thing like this.. makes you wander what this fodder is going to be like when they grow up.....

Some years ago I was driving my family (wife plus four young kids) back from a few days holiday in the west country. As I was driving about 50 mph in our MPV a brick was thrown at my car (from over a fence) and went straight through one of the rear windows and landed on our new born baby and showering her, and everyone else, with rock and broken glass. I drove straight to the nearest hospital and, astonishingly, our baby daughter (and everyone else) was totally unhurt. Someone up there looked after us that day, and I have to watch my imagination as to "what might have happened". If I ever got my hands on the thugs that did it then I think I'd need restraining.

Police seem to have no interest in this type of crime and in there defence what are they going to do with these uneducated idiots.
Blame the fact that there's no short-sharp-shock tactics which were in place when we were young.
Starts with parenting and schooling which just is'nt there.
glade your all ok.
PS; remember meeting you all at my unit whilst turning a silver BMW orange.

Well it now appears that after an argument as to who's area Hampshire/Sussex the incident occurred, Sussex Police have just called to confirm several other vehicles were damaged including windscreens.

Unofficially they have detained suspects.

So big up Sussex police mand nuke these feckers into orbit

I remember that day vividly. I drive past there twice a day, so take that little extra precaution at that spot.

And good news that they've got the scum. Although I suspect as already stated, they'll probably get a slap on the wrist at worst. Assuming of course it can be proved it was them to start with.

A car was forced to vear from the motorway near Fareham earlier in the week, when kids threw several objects at cars from the Red Barn Lane bridge near junction 10 of the M27.
The lady driver hit a tree on the embankment and suffered whiplash.

Glad to hear you and the family are alright XL. God forbid these little Fcensoreders hurt anyone, it makes my blood boil thinking about how mindless people can be. Good news that the Feds have done something about it, something is better than nothing.

I'm up and down these roads at least twice a day in both cars so i'll keep my eyes peeled, i'll be out the car and up the embankment like a flash if I see it happening.

Stay sharp chaps

That would be like a bomb going off in your cab. Makes me shiver just thinking about it.

Hope they throw away the keys...

On reading this thread I'm shocked at how common this type of assault is. Last year I was driving into Worthing down Titnore Lane when a half brick was thrown at me with considerable force from the side of the road. My instinct was to swerve slightly and I nearly hit an oncoming lorry. I slammed on the brakes and pursued the two culprits over a playing field. I couldn't go as far as I'd have liked, since I'd have been the one done for assault.

I called the police and gave them an address for the lads (I'd seen them run home) but no action was taken. On my return journey, the boys were back in the same spot, trying to kill more motorists.
