Elder daughter is 17 next month.

I am starting to look for a suitable car. Think I have settled on a Ford Ka unless anyone has any other suggestions. Don't want to spend too much and don't want some chavved up thing.

If anyone knows of anything suitable please let me know.

If you go to a dealer, offer low. Nothing is selling at the mo. start around 20% off

Thanks Pete

I am just after a part exchange type of thing, thought I would ask on here first. Otherwise a trip to the auctions might be needed.

Thanks

Not everybody is struggling as you would like to think, and the sort of car he is in the market for are all still selling very well.

Know a chap in the trade who may be able to help. Will have a chat with him tomorrow see if he has any Ka's floating about.

Thanks, that would be great. Also popping along to Eastbourne Car Auctions on Friday.

He's got nothing Ka like at the mo but will keep an eye out anyway. Let us know how you get on at the auctions though.

Going to the one in Shoreham on Monday too if Eastbourne doesn't work out?

Thanks for checking. Will see how I get on on Friday, there is no great panic, as long as I do not have to strap L plates on either of my cars.

Oh dear. Has it really come to this? At the very least you could surely get a Panda or nice Cinquecento Sporting (yellow)?.

She doesn't like Pandas or yellow cars. The youth of today! I wish I still had my brown Daf to pass on to her!

Don't relish in the idea that people are struggling as you suggest. Suggest I've lost more than most. Just that some people never go in hard enough when negotiating a purchase regardless of the financial climate. I have much experience buying cars and houses and know that this is the kind of deal I can usually find. Just need to be brave.

Definitely wanting it from the trade Jules? I keep seeing Ka's being sold privately around Worthing at the mo.

Not particularly but I can't realy be bothered to trawl around for a decent one, I just thought that someone on here might be able to help out. Just me being lazy I am afraid.

Yes, that would be very useful! It was interesting at Eastbourne Car Auctions on Friday, all that seemed to generate any interest were small, cheap, easy to insure cars. The rather nice Merc CLK55 AMG was bid to £3,800......

It looked great, about 107,000 miles. What would that be new? About £60,000?

Julian, a good mate of mine is chief MOT tester as Shoreham Vehicle Auctions. If you are interested in any on their list (now or future) let me know and he will give me/you a heads up as to whether 'its a goodun' or not smile

That would be great. I will keep my eyes open for a Ka as I think it is the most sensible option. Thanks for the kind offer.
