Drove the length of the Eastern Road from Farlington to Milton yesterday.

There's three new, robust, gray posts with swivel-looking heads been erected. Each looks to have its own elec supply in the style of a mini post alongside. They're not the same as the uprights for the existing Truvelos.

Locations are:
  • Southbound near Sainsbury's IIRC
  • Southbound just inside the 50 limit, before Anchorage Park
  • Northbound opposite the top of Euston Road (so on Velder Ave, between Milton Rd and the Good Companion pub)
I'll try and get a snap tomorrow. In the meantime, any ideas/ clarification?

This is the one on Velder Avenue opposite Euston Rd.

If it's a traffic camera, there's a chuffing great tree in the way of where it's going to be pointing.

There's a label on the side of the elec cabinet but it offers no clues

If it's Portsmouth they're more likely to be Truvelos.

To the OP... were there any signs of the induction loops having been installed in the road?

Agreed, and likewise for Southampton. But the OP's photo doesn't look like one of the 'normal' Truvelo (side exit) poles..

Definitely not the same as existing Portsmouth Truvelos.

Look a bit like the Redspeed post and ancilliary stubby post for elec.

Positioning a bit odd tho. They're not close enough to junctions to have red light functions enabled which overrules one of the Redspeed benefits. They're not high enough to be regular CCTV. And there's the tree:

Also, the one on the Eastern Road southbound between A27 and Anchorage Park is a long way from the carriageway - maybe 15-20 ft!

Excellent, so we'll be regailed by useful stuff like "football at Fratton Park, you are sitting in a traffic jam. Well it is Saturday, you moron, what do you expect?"
