yes saw those going up frown bastids. Add those to the ones they've recently put on the A27 near Havant and you have two sets within a mile. I wonder what would happen if you got caught by both with a minute, which is possible/probable shirley not two sets of points fines confusedmad

If you speed past both and dont drop below 70 then shirley you have only been speeding once.

Aslong as they dont put a camera on the whitley slip road winkhehe

Damn think i may have just been done last night then.... the only thing is a few friends of mine have driven past recently completely ignoring them.... the last to do this was last Sunday. Also are they on all 3 lanes and I presume they also work at night then? (a desperate attempt i know)

Out of interest are all sets of SPECS linked together nationally? Or do they only operate in pairs so to speak?

Thanks

These average speed cameras, anyone know how they work?
I'd like to know if changing lanes between means that you can not be speed read.

FYI Just driven past these again and there is a sign in front of each new SPEC stating the cameras are currently not in use

Any camera on any pole will read your number plate, time stamp it, camera code it and pop it in the database.
When the system sees that number again it just compares the time stamps and the legal, elapsed, time taken to travel between each camera.

So it does not matter which lane.
You could pass the first camera at 150mph as long as you then slowed to a crawl such that you time between the points matched the speed limit. I don't think this technique is to be recommended.

Steve

PS I can't see any reason why SPECS would be linked nationally unless they wanted to find or track the whereabouts of a vehicle. If this were the case I'm sure there would have been a monster outcry about 'Big Brother'.

It's for the roadworks you over-reacting planks!

When they start the works in earnest and drop the limit, that's when the SPECS will become live.

If you choose to speed through the cones, then you deserve all you get.

..and of course they will cease when the road works finish, not normal to fit permanent poles for road works with specs on top, or is it confused

Those are the standard poles used for SPECS on any roadworks. They will be removed when they finish the works.
