Hey guys, just wondering if anyone in the Southampton area has received a similar letter, or whether this is just me. Got home today to find a letter from an outfit called 'Equita Certified Bailiffs' (based in Northampton), demanding a payment of near enough £300 for unpaid Council tax on a property I do not live in and have never lived in. I am currently a student and therefore am somewhat ignorant as to how things like this work. I am slightly worried about phoning this firm straight away and am wondering how to proceed?! Please any advice would be most welcome,

Cheers

Phil

I'd post this in the P&P to get an answer!

You'll need to contact the bailiffs and explain the situation. They may well ask for you to send copies of id to prove who you are and where you live.

There was a long thread on this a while back on P&P.

It could also be a scam - be careful - are they bona-fide bailiffs?

Just cos they have a letter head doesn't make it so.

Google seems to throw their name up a few times - dodgy bunch by the looks of it.
