Scamera Van by Butser Hill
Discussion
I know the feeling. I saw it while driving from Petersfield to Portsmouth so he was on the other side of the road for me. I guess you live over the hill then?
Drove into Portsmouth on the way to Gunn Wharf the other day to fine a scamera van sitting just round the corner coming into Portsmouth in the 50 limit. Just before the 40. I haven't herd anything and it was a while ago now but the worry is still at the back of the mind.
Also driving along the A272 on the way to Winchester and came around onto one of the long straight, going slightly up hill and there was a van at the top right in a layby there as well.
So that's another at the back of the mind.
I think I have had a bad stint lately.
Anyway good luck.

Twas definately a camera van of some sort but I didn't get a NIP and I was definatley within his sights for long enough doing too much! So would assume it was an ANPR or something. Anyone know a reaon why they don't use vans on A3m. Have seen them in cars with the guns and on bridges and know people with tickets to prove it but come to think of it, don't think I have seen a van.

The Hants SCP don't operate on the A3M.
Just to lay this one to rest chap's and chapess's IT IS A SCAMERA VAN was there this morning and got me for sure as i was in outside lane allowing lorry to come out of layby next to Queen Elizabeth Park at @ 80 leptons,so beware of this area they do work the A3 + A3M
When he was there in January I switched over to inside lane and gave him the full beam treatment as this is so so stupid, on a saturday morning when the traffic is light and moving at a steady speed to get cars brake lights starting to come on in all lanes, THIS IS DANGEROUS!! as the facts are whether your going at the correct speed or not when a driver notices a scamera van they brake and then check there speed.
Its being hammered home to us drivers that we should keep our eyes on the road at all time if we have to watch our speedo then we may as well be able to eat an apple, talk on our phones etc etc.

Interesting one, this.
Two weeks ago I passed through this van's zone. It's definitely the van used for mobile speed traps (VW Transporter T5) as opposed to the ANPR van (Vauxhall Movano) used for nabbing tax/ insurance avoiders.
BUT
There are no speed camera warning signs on that stretch of road which, iirc, there should be within 1km of an active camera site. IMO it's being used to scout out a potential future camera site - existing sites won't keep raking in the cash forever
