I was up there on Sunday doing the same route. My take on it was that it was a temporary limit whilst they do the roadworks to install new kerbing.

Certainly the limit wasn't correctly (legally) signed - only on one side of the road. nono

Loads of new signs up there now Jeremy. Theye certainly look permanent to me. Small repeaters every 100 yards! Missed the big sign on entry though.

Unless ones name is Loeb, it's not going to make much difference on the slopey bit!!

It's a shame about the top bit though. Are you saying that the long straight is 30 too? I know that if you go up there at the weekend, the sides of the roads are always packed out with sandalists on foot. Be lucky (not) to hit one!

hehe

Will be well upset if that is the case as we use this road for some of our MSA runs (Seloc).

I don't think it is a temporary limit, they wouldn't put posts in the ground all the way along for that.
I can't believe that they have made it a 30 limit - it (was) an brilliant bit of road that was comfortable at 60 even in a bog standard saloon. It's perhaps sensible to have 30 on the steep bit, but not on the straightish flatish bit.

Before long we're going to be limited to 30 or 40 everywhere apart from motorways :-(

The road over the top of the Ashdown forest has a 40 limit all the way now - that used to be good fun as well.
