I posted this on the Lotus forum and didn't get much interest. Perhaps it may be more relevant to you chaps:

Compared to the continent, the quality of road surfacing in England is generally very poor. In Sussex it seems to be particularly bad, greatly increasing the ware and tear on the cars we cherish and cost ever increasing amounts to run. There is now an official petition, which I hope you will sign up to:

I have posted a reply on the Porsche forum too. I have heard of people claiming successfully in the past. Do you know where I can obtain a government claim form?

If anyone knows the Ditchling road, that goes to Ditchling beacon, here is a perfect example. Used to be a great road and national speed limit. Then it was resurfaced, so was even better. Went along it today, first off its still NSL, from Old Boats Corner end, then it goes to 30MPH, WTF is that all about. Not safe to blat along there anymore cos you can bet this will be a new 'mobile safety camera' area. Utter BARSTEWARDS.

I know the road well. According to local knowledge the 30 limmit was only supposed to be temporary while work took place.

And who believed that? West Sussex Roads are getting pretty rough too. Still, someone has to pay for the abolition of subscription charges. Did 800 mile round trip to South Wales last Autumn. Couldn't help noticing that the main roads there have had money spent on improvements - bends straightened and so on.
Got into serious traffic queues only twice. Littlehampton on the way out, trying to avoid Arundel which duly caught us on the way back. Bah!

Rant over, off the sign the petition.

Know it only too well. Killjoys aren't they? Still, it's always fun to see if I can make it at least halfway down Ditchling Beacon without braking!

yes As if I could part with him. I haven't added anything to my stable as yet apart from a real horse!
