Anyone recommend any decent twisty roads in Dorset to take the Mini out for a blast?

Cheers Guys!

There aren't many good twisty A-roads in Dorset. Lots of twisty lanes but it's not really safe to blast along those. Most Dorset roads are far too badly surfaced anyway.

The road from Wareham to Swanage isn't bad, particularly after Corfe.

The coast road from Chickerell to Bridport is a giggle but watch out for the crests on corners, and a lot of it is now 50 mph limit. Amazing views though.

The B3081 from Shaftesbury to Cranborne has some twisty bits and also some long long straights.

Oh and the A3030 through the marshy land from Sherborne to Sturminster has some good, fast and tight bends. It's best from west to east, but mind out for the bridge after a fast right turn about a mile after Alweston - I've frightened myself many times after I've got into a rhythm of left and right corners and suddenly there's this bloody bridge which I'm going too fast for.

I've also thought of another place.

Just south of Yeovil is a place called Closworth.

If you turn off the Yeovil-Dorchester road into the village and keep going out the other side, you'll come to a series of tight left-right bends in fast succession before Pondclose Fm. It's like doing a slalom and would be great fun in a Mini.

Map: www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=356000&Y=110000&width=500&height=300&gride=356500.323499445&gridn=110096.688111999&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=freegaz&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=true&zm=1&scale=25000

Now, these bends are unusual in that there are no hedges in the way of your line of sight so you can see any cars coming.

I will try to take a pic at some point soon.

Get back in England Saturday, Spending the day bolting bits onto the Mini for early blast. Zig Zag Hill is looking pretty fun! Has the TVR got a new home yet?

No not yet, enjoying being able to take the roof off for a bit first. Still no idea what to get yet to replace it - you any thoughts? Apart from a mini of course, been there done that! Very tempting though!! Might be a little project coming up methinks!

Sorry to hear that - yes, that road can be dangerous; it definitely invites speed.
