Help me find a pub!
Discussion
Hi,
I'm collecting something in Southampton Friday morning and looking for a nice pub for lunch on the return journey to North Kent.
I'll have a trailer with me so need decent parking and ideally somewhere I can safely park without worrying about my new boat getting stolen!
Any recommendations for a nice country pub? Happy to go along the coast so pretty flexible on location!
Thanks

Jolly sailor is one of my locals https://www.jollysailoroldbursledon.co.uk/ but parking is at a premium (far better to arrive by water!) and you may struggle with a trailer unless you're there early and are good at three point turnsI'm collecting something in Southampton Friday morning and looking for a nice pub for lunch on the return journey to North Kent.

Horse & Jockey in Curbridge is also nice, again on the RIver Hamble.
I would also say Fox and Hounds in Bursledon but I was there last night and they were flooded out so drinks only until Sunday.
These options are only really good if you're planning on taking M27/A3(M) back to Kent rather than M3

Also there's the boathouse cafe in Swanwick marina - about as safe as you can get to park a boat!
Finally our favourite pub is the Bold Forrester sarisbury green - good cask ales (inc tribute!) and a decent pub lunch.
Is The Navigator still any good, directly opposite the marina ? Finally our favourite pub is the Bold Forrester sarisbury green - good cask ales (inc tribute!) and a decent pub lunch.
Not been in there for probably 5 or 6 years, but food used to be good

On it's third change since you were last there, it went all upmarket with fish fish fish dishes @ £25/main for a while. It's now a steak restaurant. Neither particularly interest me so haven't been there. The ship and the Jolly Sailor that flank it are both better options

This thread is weird.
OP seeks pub recommendations in May for a specific trip 2 days later.
Answers provided 2 months later when they can't possibly be any use???
Balls, that's my fault, it appeared the the top of the south coast forum so thought it was recent, it didn't occur to me to look at the date!OP seeks pub recommendations in May for a specific trip 2 days later.

They're still good pub recommendations!
