Any ideas why?
Eastbound around Jct 7 and a gantry on the slip westbound at Jct 5.
There seems to be a quite staggering quantity of roadworks on https://highwaysengland.co.uk/roadworks-search/?da...

But only until the 30th Oct, they wouldnt put specs in for a week? scratchchin

In preparation for its upgrade to a 'smart' motorway.

Project is scheduled to finish in 2020, or 2021 with a bit of overrun.

I believe it’s only during the construction work however like the M3 it will be for a very long time!

To be fair though it’s always worth watching your speed on that section as the camera van is normally out on one of the bridges.

Other than one of the bridges between J1 & J2, I've never seen a camera van anywhere on the M27.

I did ask someone in the know why they'd started plonking the van at Ower - they said it was following a fatal accident, whilst acknowledging the M27 remained by far one of the safest roads in the county.

It’s always in the vicinity of Hamble/swanwick. I find this group very helpful https://m.facebook.com/Southampton-Safety-camera-s...

Awesome, I’m sure that will put a stop to the stationary traffic from jct 9 to 4 and up the M3 each morning laugh
I don’t recall seeing any cameras vans, but I come off at jct 9 and the traffic is usually sluggish around there anyway, lucky to get over 50!

I must drive that stretch at least 10 times a month - don't recall ever seeing anything along there.

Worrying though as have been known (on occasion) to give it some beans between Windhover & Whiteley.

Eyes peeled from here on in thumbup.

I’ve rarely encountered it during rush hour or my commute but on days off come 10am I always see it.

As above, quite common to be on the Botley Road bridge over the Eastbound M27 prior to junction 9, especially weekends. Have also seen it Eastbound on the junction 11 roundabout bridge a few times and just past the Fiat garage on the A27 towards park gate.

I did a speed awareness course after being caught at 81mph eastbound M27 I guess on the Botley bridge. I've also seen it on the Fareham Central bridge doing both directions within the last two months. They must be raking it in.

I had a bit of a close call there last week.
I only put my foot down for a few seconds to blast past a slow car in lane 3 going westwards up the hill towards Fareham.
Next thing I know, my mirror is full of unmarked dark grey BMW with mega-dark rear tints, a couple of extra aerials, and multiple cameras mounted above the dash.
Having slowed down before he caught up, I didn’t get stopped, but I did look suitably sheepish and apologetic when he trundled past.
Be careful out there ...

What happened to the days when Hampshire plod even went on TV saying they wouldn’t bother with anyone doing less than 90 on a motorway?

Sounds like time to turn the cruise control one notch down.

I run mine at 80 mph and spend a lot of time getting anywhere
compared to other jurisdictions and listen mostly to Classic FM to relieve the boredom.

Brit dials have to over read, so no surprises GPS says I am doing 76 mph in reality.
I've sailed past hundreds of motorway speed cameras and had no problem.

Of course, I'd rather have folks doing 90 mph and concentrating on
what they are doing, than the current regime of "motorway safety is solely
about driving slower than a fixed low limit" that the Brits have now.

I'd be happy for the Brit coppers to book folks for doing something genuinely
dangerous, for example too close to the vehicle in front, like the much
more sensible German coppers do.

Plod still might not, but it would appear the 'Safer Roads' drones are not applying the same discretion.

I drive from Fareham to the New Forest and back every day and stick the cruise control on at 50mph. I don't understand how cars and vans are overtaking at around 60 or 70 mph. They either;

1. Dont care
2. Dont understand how 'Variable Speed' cameras work
3. Have loads of money and dont care about points on their licence
