Massive long shot, but thought I'd give it a try. Mrs 48K and I are looking to relocate to the New Forest, specifically to a property with stables and land, to offer "horse holidays" (holidays for people to bring their horses and hack out etc). We've been looking on and off for a couple of years now. Missed out on a place in Brockenhurst a while back and since then nothing that ticks the boxes has come up. Unsurprising as the market for properties with stables/land in that area is very slow moving. Apart from (re)registering with the agents in the area does anyone know of or have any contacts who might know of such properties coming on to the market or people who may be considering selling?

Speak to Spencer's estate agents. Just purchased through them myself. They specialise in country and equestrian. They have a London office for folks looking to move West.

I'd agree with Eddie. To be honest we are trying to sell at present in the area & move, but things are seem very very slow. We are struggling to sell, but then by the same token can't see anything worth buying if we did!!

Long shot but Have you thought of going into the local saddlers, feed suppliers etc and leave your details with them, prob best on a week day when they aren’t as busy but appreciate your out of the area , also a call to local farriers might be an idea.

Does your property have stables or room to build some? scratchchinhehe

We've just got back from another week down there, good tip about the saddlers/feed places didn't think of that one. Will definitely do that for the next visit. We're currently on the outskirts of Milton Keynes so the forest is only 2 hours drive away which makes day trips / short notice visits possible.

No, 'fraid not. To be honest I've all but given up with Forest as I think prices are a bit silly, considering what you can get for the money just outside. To follow up on the tip above try this place http://www.aivly.co.uk/

This dump is a million & not great location

Similar price good location but only 2 beds

Around the price point, needs work

Location again not ideal

We saw most of these on our trip or have seen them before.

What's wrong with Linwood as an area? That property has been on the market for nearly a year on and off.

We didn't like Hordle so scratched that one off.

The other two were contenders. Not averse to doing work on the property if needed / and we can get pp.

Rob, I'm surprised you've not sold yet. Hopefully it's not down to a crap agent. I think we got lucky with our sale. 7 days to sold and 5 months to moved out.

Well we are on with Spencers now as well. Had interest with a fair number of viewings & several 2nd viewings. 2 offers. 1st was a piss take; even the agent admitted that! 2nd guy made an offer, which he said was a starting point for negotiation, was apparently off to sort out his finance before finalizing an offer. After a few calls with the agent he has now disappeared off the planet!

To be honest we don't need to move so actually been toying with taking it off the market, the problem is we almost have a bigger problem if do get an acceptable offer as there really is nothing out there at the moment that has us saying "must" have that.

We had some niggles with buying our new place for similar reasons. We sold our good sized house in 7 days but really struggled to find and keep hold of anything worth buying as an upgrade. In the end the place we got was a true bargain and the seller I think knew it. He made it very difficult to complete the sale and we even moved in with the in-laws for 5 weeks so he could piss about with his own purchase. It's a trawl at the best of times but the area is even more difficult to move in because the prices are so high and the people are generally in the game for profit.
