Question to any people on here who might use the A31 dual carriageway through Ringwood to the M27.

Is it really shut every night this week from 9PM to 6Am? The Highways Agency site suggests yes, but there are no signs indicating any work... I normally travel up to Reading early once a week but obviously don't want to start off early if the road is shut, the de-tour route being miles and miles via the New Forest!! I thought someone on here might know, as there are plenty of early morning travellers on that route when I set off at 5.30AM just west of Ringwood.......

Where are you travelling from?

I occasionally get caught out by these night closures. Occasionally they open early but not always.

West Moors - just 5 miles west of Ringwood.

The Website suggests closures from Ashley Heath Roundabout (end of A338) through to the Ringwood Interchange. In fact one of the updates indicates a possible closure right up to the M27 at Cadnam due to resurfacing. From my area, there's no easy detour around that route!!

As usual the information on the official sites is rubbish. The Bournemouth Echo has a link from 6 days ago however confirming the road closures this week...

Hello from just your side of Wimborne smile

Sorry I can't advise then, short of "plan to go via Salisbury".

But hopefully someone will be along soon to tell you more than I can....

Yes they have been shutting it. A friend had to come back through new forest, Lyndhurst - Christchurch - bmth to get to Poole. He was coming back from London.

There are no set dates as to what evenings it will be closed, although the Bournemouth echo do publish them.

However, they have permission in force for 12 months so they can do it whenever they like.

Well if it is shut I'd make up your own detour, when I came across a closure M3/M27 Westbound it sent me on a run around southampton, re-joining M27 eastwards...should have just followed first guess to go via Nursling.

At least the forest roads want have salt licks spread to entice fauna onto the road.
