We're off to Southampton from Worcester on Saturday to get fitted for tweed, staying over at a very poorly reviewed travelodge in the centre. We need the following:-

Fish and chip shop for dinner
Man pub for me with jukebox, pool and banter
Cocktail bar / classy pubs for the other three
Highly recommended kebab shop for post drinking nourishment
Greasy spoon for full on fry up Sunday morning

Plus any wild card suggestions for amusement from 4pm onwards...

Problem is, the centre of Southampton is a bit of a dump. However,

Best chippy ? Mike's on Queensway, I reckon;
Pubs with pool tables ? Been a while, but I think the Alexandra (off London Road) still has a table. Possibly The Avenue too.;
Classy pubs ? Not much in town, it has to be said. If it's a nice afternoon and you fancy a trip out though, Hamble has several decent pubs all within a couple of hundred yards of each other - great place for a mini pub crawl in the sun;
Back in town, Metropolis on Canute Road always used to be good for kebabs - not far from the Frog & Frigate which, as far as I know, has recently re-opened. Had many a great night in that place over the years;
The Admiral Sir Lucius Curtis (Wetherspoons) in Ocean Village is probably as good as any for a early morning heart attack (with a pint, if required)..

No pool table but I think you'd like the Platform Tavern.

I second that. The Oxford Street and Ocean Village area is probably the nicest place to go.

I think the Grapes in Oxford St has a pool table.
There is a new German beer keller opened in Southampton this week. It is just round the corner from the travel lodge. You could try the micro brewery that is in the old wool house.
I am from Southampton and as others have said town is a bit of a dump these days. OK if you are under 25 but for the older generation p!ss poor.
