Moving to Portsmouth
Discussion
I am moving to Portsmouth to start a new job at the end of the month. I will be living on Fawcett Road and working near Hilsea station.
Can any of you local PHers fill me in on the best things to do in the city?
I'm a 28 year old professional. I liked chilled out socialising - dinner, comedy, beer garden, cinema - and outdoor activities - football, cycling.

Best thing to do? Move out of Portsmouth!
In all seriousness, I lived in Portsmouth for a couple of years and had a great time. Gunwharf is your staple night out really, lots of restaurants, bars and a cinema.
Old Portsmouth is nice too, if The Lemon Sole fish restaurant is still there I'd recommend that highly.

Welcome to the area. You have more takeaway's down your road than you could think of, and as has been said, you have Albert Road just a 2 minute walk.
Along with all the bars, we have the local Pub Club, West Meon Hut which is 25 minutes away, and a nice drive, youve got a lot going on around you!

I was at Astrium for 9 yrs.
No offence to anyone but Portsmouth isn't a great place, however the odd trip to Gunwharf does ease your mind as that's a very nice place.
Fawcet road is very student orientated but is a good spot half way between frat ton station and soutsea
Often went out in south sea quite a lot and there are some nice bars there. the weather spoons was often a good cheap starting point before heading into Gunwharf.
I'm now at Astriums sister company in Guildford so still sending craft into Space.

Join the local Round Table and have a great time
Is that more of a social club or a community/networking club?I've connected with a couple of groups on meetup.com for the socialising but I wouldn't mind getting involved with a more formal group for community work/networking/giving and receiving business & career advice.
Would something like the Rotary Club or Masons or anything else similar be better for that?
