Hi,

I am planning to visit the autumn Beaulieu autojumble (september 7th/8th), arriving in the area a day earlier. Can anybody recommend a B&B in the area (30 minutes drive would still be fine)?

Thanks, Chris

This one in my village gets great reviews, right next to the pub too wink

About 35 minute drive across The Forest, which is nice.

There is s fantastic hotel near Lyndhurst bit pricey though. Its called Chewton Glen and is the best hotel I have stayed in in the UK (I have stayed in quite a few circa 50 a year)

Very, very nice without doubt, but it's hardly a B&B is it?

I know its hardly a B&B, and i did say its expensive and its an hotel.

But IMO well worth the money

I've not checked but think the OP would be lucky to get a slot at The Pig at this short notice?

Heading over there for the first time on the 21st - looking forward to it.

It's excellent for sure but at £300/night & minimum 2 night stay at weekends may not be quite what OP had in mind smile

When I was using budget accomodation in the area I would use Tyrells Ford Hotel or The Star in Ringwood. Used to be around £50/night & clean, simple, basic.

I've never actually stayed there, but I've eaten there a few times. Have to say the service is exceptional.

Chewton Glen is nowhere near Lyndhurst - well, maybe 20 miles or so...it's the other side of New Milton smile

Its 12 miles from Lyndhurst. Where I live that counts a local, but then we have a 12 miles round trip just to the kids school bus stop.

Hope that link works, theres a couple in Beaulieu itself, and theres always the Montagu Arms Hotel biggrin
Bearing in mind the traffic into Beaulieu can be horrendous when the autojumble is on, might be a sensible option as you can walk to it.

Theres couple in Dibden/Holbury/Langley that are probably much cheaper than the ones in Brokenhurst/Lyndhurst, and only 5/10 mins by car.

The Mill at Gordleton is superb. Only 5 or 6 rooms, boutique, beautiful gardens, ducks and one of the best places in the forest for food. Book early!

Or The Pig.

Or you could stay in my guest room for beer money, excellent local farm shop breakfast too!

Food at the New Forest Hotel in Ashurst is rubbish. Typical bought in prepared pub food. Happy Cheese doesn't look much better, but I've never eaten in there.

Depends on the budget, but there are loads of much nicer places available.

I agree its not great, but assumed the OP didn't want to spend too much & they are all within a short walk from the B&B's with a short drive to Beaulieu through the Forest.

We ate there before, it's very simple grub like a Brewers Fayre - but EVERYTHING has cheese on or in it - suppose the name is a bit of a giveaway!
