Hello

Does anyone know of any decent turbo rebuilders in the area?

Basically my MK4 GTI has become a money pit. Smoked badly so purchased a new engine at a cost of £250 removed old one then discovered this one was just as bad and only got £150 of it back from the seller...

Then purchased a new cambelt/water pump and clutch another bottom end and had my head skimmed and built this up at a cost of £350 so £450 all in

Then found out spring was snapped had to buy all new springs (not fitted yet) £100 I then found somr rust underneath so had to get this welded meaning about £550 all in

I then discovered my turbo was fked I purchased a new one off ebay for £150 described as "good conditon with no play" my Dad checked as I was away for cash on delivery and of course I arrive to it being fked with play and the seller going quiet.

Does anyone know a decent turbo rebuilder in the South are that is cheapish as I am running out of money now as have two fked KO3s turbos and no car to use frown

I have spent £700 on parts alone now and the engine is still not in the car and this is with me doing all the labour myself with a friend.

I have two KO3s turbos that need rebuilds will these have any value at all as well?

Thanks

Who says that the turbo is shagged? Some lateral play on the shaft is normal. Maybe worth getting it checked before shelling out more ££££
I had a similar question with the Turbo on my VX220 and took it to BTN Turbos in Uxbridge. Fortunately the guy there gave me an honest opinion that what play was present was normal. They could have taken my cash and not cared a hoot. Just saying it is worth checking.
