How long do you think they'd been in the pub when they thought this one up? laugh

Why use a tractor unit as a getaway car? He should have reversed into the shop, jumped out, jumped into a another car and left, immediately. He would have drawn any Police in the area to his getaway and couldn't really have been nailed for much as he hadnt nicked anything. Meanwhile, couple of guys rob the watches and leave in the other direction, switching cars not more than 2 streets away.

Not that I've given this sort of thing any thought....

I probably wouldn't have driven towards the police station, from whence any police would have been coming. I may also have considered not driving down one of the most congested raods in Southampton, with the most traffic lights, in a vehicle which is limited to 60 odd mph either scratchchin

I saw those pictures this morning, I'd be interested to know what time this happened as that's a pretty busy area during the day right outside the Marlands, I actually bought a watch from them only a week or two ago, I hope the staff are ok, they were a nice bunch.

But like you said that junction is a pretty busy one and probably wasn't the smartest direction to make an escape. I'd also imagine Rolex's like that wouldn't be very easy to shift anyway, they're all marked with the reference numbers etc.

A bit more from the Beeb

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-216...

Seems he managed to trash a Police car too, but love the 'onlookers' thinking it was an accident. Yea, me too, as I watched some guys fill their pockets with bling hehe

Still, at least it was a chap from Pompey - it'll be a few years before we can smash their place up with footie fans so lets use a truck biggrin

"Phillip Jackson, 25, from Dibden, a crew member at Burger King in the High Street, said: “All I saw was the back of the lorry and the white cab drove away."

Crew member, set sail now have they?

A pretty brave and/or stupid thing to do, I bet it turns out the contents of the container on the back of the lorry have a higher value than the watches!

Of all the watches in the window, he goes for Rolex! Some people have no taste!!

wink

Reminds me a bit of a story my Brother in Law told me, he lives in Truro now and a gang of smart thinking Essex boys decided to drive down one August Saturday afternoon to do the local jewelers - no recce first, just off - the country bumpkins won't know what's hit them.
The didn't quite realise how busy the place is on a sunny Saturday, did the job, jumped in the getaway car, got round the corner in to the usual gridlock.
Coppers I believe walked up to nick them hehe
