Hey Devon and Southwest,

I'm really sad to be getting rid of my trusty MX5 'Mazza' soon.

I want to get her insured for one last day and for one last blast around. I think I need a epic road to see her off in true style before I sell her, something that will really remind me of why I love the car before it goes.

So, bearing that in mind, does anyone know of a great driving roads that cover some nice Windy B roads, a bit of scenery to look at with the roof down that ends out by the coast.

Best advice I can give is don't do it. That idea of one last drive ends in tears so often!

Hi Dan, you could either go East along the A3052 all the way to Lyme Regis and then briefly along the A35 as far as Chideock. Look out for a small side road on the right which leads down to Seatown (not Seaton). Nice small village on the beach with lovely views along the Jurassic Coast.

Alternatively, head up towards the Moor and follow your nose. There is a string on here called Dartmoor Triangle which has a few good ideas.

Cheers

If you're going to get as far as Chideock, you may as well go a bit further and take the coast road from West Bay to Weymouth. Awesome views.

Good call. I don't often get down that far (usually veering up towards Dorchester and Salisbury). Nice little no nonsense cafe at West Bexington too.

No, but they have lots of other tours - Scotland, Norway, Alps x 2, etc.

I wish I had the time for the welsh weekender, I got out to le mans with the Nirvana guys and girls and had a blast.

looks like the 5 will be gone before then frown

Both the lyme Regis and Dartmoor routes look great thanks.

@gforceg that route sounds ideal, the beach and views appeal, I just hope they have a good chippy. its not a drive out in the 5 without a bag of fish and chips.

@Stubby Pete you are probably right, I will keep the speed down, I promise. TBH I enjoy casually driving it roof down just as much as provoking the little thing in the corners.

Well, there used to be a good chipper in Charmouth near the junction with the road that goes down to the beach (Inspector Google should be able to fill in the details). But that's not as long a run out as others mentioned above. Anyway, enjoy the run our and good luck.
