My E46 requires the level 2 service soon.

I've called both BMW Bristol (Dick Lovett) and the BMW dealership in Bridgewater (which is surprisingly cheaper than Bristol?), though wondered if anyone had a recommended specialist?

Either that, or a clued up local chap who would be happy for me to supply the recommended (or superior) parts, a run through of what the level 2 service consists of (everything) and just paying for the labour?

Thanks

A bit further, but have a look at Forza West in Gwent. Good prices, and comes recommended on here (though I've never used him, yet).

I have and I totally recommend him. Good rates too.

My M5 is due an Inspection 2 and I'd take it nowhere else - he's considerably cheaper than BMW, and also Clayton who are in Bristol (and I didn't get on with, but others do) thumbup

I should add that when I have asked him for some (free) advice, he has been very helpful - That alone makes me want to use him the next time I need a BMW servicing!

Always been happy with Clayton and treated well. Took both of my E34s there.

Thanks for the recommendations guys, it's actually made my decision more difficult now!

I don't want to make a decision on price, though this obviously plays a rather large factor.

The car's circa 100k miles and the service history is 100% with BMW. Personally, I feel it's money wasted taking it to BMW as a specialist will have the same knowledge and probably provide a better customer experience.

I'd like to maintain it the best way possible, so price isn't the 'be all and end all', though based on the recommendations above, I guess it's quite possibly the deciding factor (distance may also play a role)

I'll pop along to some over the weekend and see how they are, I imagine I'll need a bit of work done to be honest.

James (at redish) used to work for bmw.. and he really knows his stuff (i.e he builds race spec bmws all the time from shell up).

A +1 for Redish Motorsport. James did my Inspection2 service yesterday in fact. I haven't let anyone else touch my car for years.

Didnt have good experiences with Claytons on either E39 or the E36s.....last time they had my 540 it worked out cheaper to have used Dick Lovett.

I always used Grants in Wellington..... http://www.grantsofwellington.co.uk/

Another vote for Stu at Forza West

taken the M3 there for the past 2 years and 70k miles, he's a top bloke with very keen prices and superb work

(ex bmw master tech I might add)

Worth having done there if only to see what he's got in the garage that day!

I just called Grants and they're very friendly, slight issue with only working during the week though, as I'd like to have dropped it off on a Saturday.

Only came in at £2.50 less than Bridgewater BMW, though he sounds like a top bloke so I'll probably take my business there.

£100 an hour at BMW if something goes wrong is what's scary!
