There was a spin off in the Thames Valley forum where about half a dozen of us got together for a beer each month to kick ideas around, share experiences and spur each other on. I was wondering if there was any appetite in this neck of the woods for such a thing.

Beer I can do.
Useful ideas I may struggle with.

Hi Dave

Can you expand on the type of topics you would kick around, typically?

Possibly. smile As a chartered accountant I might be able to help on some things. Would be curious what kind of thing would be discussed though.

A variety of projects were discussed each month. The driving force behind the Thames Valley version was Hewlett who is brimming with energy and ideas and could be relied upon to have some crazy plan smile each month.

He wanted to do the meetings to keep him focused, reporting back each month on what progress he'd made. He's done well too, pushing a new project along and he's starting to get some media attention for it now.

I pitched in with updates on what I'm up to, kicking around ideas on Tedvertiser (as was) and how to market it etc.

Other attendees included chaps with established businesses looking for some fresh thinking on challenges they were having or people in regular jobs who needed some support to make the leap into self employment.

Personally I just enjoy talking shop and finding a few people on the same wavelength to kick around ideas with.

I'm up for this

Due to launch a new business end of Jan/beginning of Feb and have a few ideas floating so sounds like a good idea.

Currently work away in Reading so have little time at the moment, but hopefully I'll be working from home quite soon so a lot more evenings etc for such things

AA

ETA: I'm sure there's a lot we could all learn from Ted and Owen (Obi) at the very least (no insult intended to anyone else - just dont know their Business experience)

Oh... and we get to talk about cars too driving

Perhaps in the first instance, we should just see who's interested, what area of business they are in or want to be in and where people are.

Please add yourselves in and let's see if we've got sufficient people in the right place:

Sounds like a good idea. I'm working 20hrs a week at the moment with my main client and thinking about further ideas to sell work and/or develop more applications. Young baby tends to take up the extra hours in the week though hehe
