Hi All
Have had some great recommendations from other regional forums before, so no pressure!!

I'm trying to help plan a birthday meal for a friend who lives in Devon, so Bath is a great midpoint for all. Ideally we'd like a country pub that does amazing food and has some B&B rooms - something along the lines of http://www.falklandarms.co.uk/

Any recommendations?

Cheers

Chris

Bodkin House at Petty France is good. On the A46 near Old Sodbury. About 10 Miles from Central Bath. smile

Assuming you don't actually want to stay in Bath, the White Hart at Ford on the A420 is very good:

Or the Best Western just off Jnc 18 of the M4 is very easy to get to and seems lovely (I've only been there for a drink, but seems good):

If you do want to stay in Bath, then the "worlds your oyster" with returants and there are plenty of B&B's around. Have fun smile

Not sure about the Compass, but if you keep going on that road you'll come to Burton and The Old House at Home which has good food and nice rooms - www.ohhcompany.co.uk

Or go north on the A46 about 10 miles north of the motorway and you'll find Calcott Manor and it's Gumstool pub.

White Hart at Ford is nice, as above, as is the Castle Inn in the centre of Castle Combe.

There's also The Crown, on the A420 between Ford and Chippenham, which has good food and rooms named after car manufacturers.

Incidentally, if you want a good B&B in Bath itself, look no further than 3 Abbey Green, right by the abbey and baths and run by my good friend Derek.

I can thoroughly recommend The George Inn at Norton St Philip, just down the road from Bath.

One of the oldest pubs in the country, with beautiful period rooms, some with four poster beds etc.

Have been going here for 4 years and can't say a bad word about it.

Superb food too.
