Afternoon all,

I have a Celestion 100w home cinema sub in the cupboard which I need to get round to fixing. As far as I am aware it's just a dry joint, however I'm not very technical... Basically it does work but with a lot of buzzing.

Is there anyone in Bristol who might be prepared to have a look at it in return for a few beer tokens? I could bring it anywhere within reach.

Richer Sounds quoted me £40 just to look at it, given that the sub wasn't much more than £100 I don't fancy gambling...

This will vastly enhance my Christmas films. You'd make an old man very happy! wink

Does the buzzing build up and pop, then start building up again? If so it's more likely a failed capacitor than a dry joint. Had a similar problem with mine a while back.

I assume that you KNOW that it's not the amp feed, obvious I know but always best to eliminate the easy things first.

Cheers Pete. The buzzing is fairly constant, haven't used it for ages. I'm fairly sure it's not the amp feed because I've bought a second hand, rubbish, replacement and it doesn't do it...

Unless you find a nice back street guy, might be cheaper to replace tbh. A half decent active sub will only cost around £100 on eBay.

Sorry I can't be of any more help.
