I'm hopefully going down to this. We've done it in 2006 and 2007 and it was a fun, and fairly cheap, day out.

Unlimited runs for £25 per driver on a 1/4 mile airfield strip.

http://www.driftanddrag.co.uk/

According to the website, Unlimited tickets are not available on the day.

Anyone else?

is it defo a 1/4 mile now? it was only an 1/8 mile before as they couldn't get insurance for it for safety reasons.

I would have gone for sure as its only 20 miles up the road, but as it is I am blatting around Mallory Park the day before and making a weekend of it up with relations where I grew up. smile

What do they mean by " arm straps in open top cars"

Not sure, but I imagine it is some kind of device to stop your arms waving about as you're somersaulting your convertible?

I believe that was mentioned last time we went in 2007 and no one had arm straps in any of the open cars. Our roof was off all day. I'm not even sure what that would constitute - bungy ropes? Webbing?

I'll post on the Facebook page and ask.

They say it will be 1/4 mile unless weather makes it unsafe and then it'll be a 1/8.

Rules and Regs "12. In the event of rain the Drag strip will be reduced to an eighth of a mile for safety reasons"

I'll be there too and will take part in the drag. Only trouble is I can only find the paper copy of my license and apparently you need both parts!

Are they using up one of their 4 days a year or whatever EDDC granted them?

I've always been tempted to go along to smeatharpe, just for a looky. Never got round to it. Anyone actually been?

Yes, we did 2006 and 2007. 2007 was, I think, the last time they ran it.

Here's a video I shot:
