We spent Saturday and Sunday evenings with JDS Paul and his lovely wife Lisa at some fireworks events that Paul was helping to set up and launch.

And here's a few pics.

This tries to show the not-too-safe reality of setting off big fireworks

I note the finish on those colours appears a touch swirly and misty in places. Not up to the usual standard of his work wink

Very nice photos Graham, top quality work. The video came out well too, although, just in case people are wondering, that wasn't the whole show. One slight misfire but everyone was quite safe - although my hearing may take a couple of days to come back properly (it's an air pressure thing).

My love for fireworks started even before the detailing (some 30 something years ago) although I don't do many professional shows these days. Detailing is far less stressful and doesn't really come under the "Lawks a lordy, my bottom's on fire" category.

laugh I know, I know, I really must try harder but I haven't yet found a way to polish fire and smoke. Give me time...

Glad it went well Paul.

I spent the day rigging in Broughton Gifford in perfect weather for once which was a nice change. Why Guido couldn't have tried his plot in July is beyond me smile

In July you'd have to work later... biggrin

Thanks - it mostly went to plan, which is close enough for me and the weather was pretty decent too.

Plotting should definitely be confined to the summer months though!

How did things go for you? I'm supposed to be doing one more this week, but the weather looks like it may well prevent that.

It went really well. Most of it was electrically fired to music and the timing was spot on. Had one piece stop short where half of it failed to go, but there was enough going on that audience wouldn't have noticed smile

I personally prefer to hand fire, but have to admit there is something to be said for being able to sit back and actually watch one of your displays (once you get past the immediate worry when you push the button on the lap top ... will anything happen lol)

Weather not looking great now for displays with those high winds around. My next one isn't until Nov 27th, so hoping for a dry one.

I'm glad it went well. Black spots or sections that don't go off are rarely spotted by anyone watching - it always seems a much bigger deal than it actually is.

I prefer to hand fire and haven't been involved with an electrically fired show for some years. Usually the company is so busy during November that it would be impossible to electrically fire even a fraction of the events and that suits me. I know what you mean about the button pressing though, the whole "will it, won't it moment".

Tomorrow's show is very much in the balance due to wind speeds and a tight site.

Good luck for the 27th.

ears Broughton Gifford you say? I had a friend doing a show down there on the Saturday. I have no idea how many shows there are around there, but on the off chance...were you working with a chap called Rob?

Show looks like it was great Paul by the way! smile
