Can anyone recommend a specialist garage to take a sports car to in Devon/Cornwall?
I have recently moved to the Devon border. Ideally first hand recommendation/s (I used to use a specialist in Surrey who could handle anything from a ferrari engine rebuild to a cooper s MOT who were reliable and did not charge the earth), current toy is due some work.
Thanks

I can recommend a garage in north devon (if this is nearby)
I have used Braunton Engineering for a while now. Servicing and oil leak repair to a Porsche - excellent service from a thoroughly decent set up. Contact Chris/Ashley, their website is www.sportscarrepair.co.uk
tel No. 01271 814144. Based near Barnstaple.

I have returned to them time and time again because the standard of work is good (I always inspect what they say they have done, sounds sad, but I am an engineer and been let down by others in the distant past) plus the prices are reasonable (important to me). To be fair they concentrate on Porsches but I have seen various shapes there, TVR, Lotus, Aston MArtin, and Ferrari too. They always welcome me (really good atmophere) and people seem to drop in like its a club !

I can highly recommend Mark Burley @ MB motorsport

He's been building my car for me, which has involved complete drivetrain upgrading, new engine, new gearbox, custom turbo installation, custom suspension upgrade, etc, etc.

True enthusiast - his own 500bhp+ kit car is mental (hayabusa engine + GT30 turbo)

website - mbmotorsport.eu

Xtreme works,
Woolston Farm,
Loddiswell,
Devon,

He is also the owner of Quantum Cars

ps

He is a bit of trek from you, but I am based in Great Torrington and Launceston, so similar distance - but worth it !

hey, I have used Braunton Engineering after migration from Porsche centre Exeter

Braunton Engineering, Porsche, Devon in a word?
Excellence!

I thought their website was: www.brauntonengineering.co.uk /tel 01271 814144 Braunton North Devon

Great value and the workmanship is up to that of dealer from what I can see. They are car nuts and realists it seems. They will work on your fast car and they will also cater for your wife's car in their other workshop (cared for the sharan at mot time) happy to recommend

Ashley and Chris are top Porsche heads but I have seen some exotic stuff in there recently (DB9 & Scuderia!) apparently they do not want to just do Porsches (wot!) but I guess other marques have attracted my eye too. reference Braunton Engineering sportscarrepair.co.uk thread. I think their info is listed as a dealer on phead somewhere. I have used Braunton E for a few years now.

Hi HenryR,
I have used Braunton Engineering for my Porsche 997 for the past two years - servicing, diagnostic (blinking tyre pressure monitoring and air bag light reset!) no complaints.
Team led by Ashley who is an oracle of info on most things that rotate!

The scud is a local car that I look after, owner is a top guy and the car is well loved and used as it was meant to be. Been passed that place a few times and always enjoy having a look to see what they have in biggrin

Dulford Automotive in Cullumpton is a TVR specialist, but he also looks after other performance cars.

+1 for Braunton. Last time I was in there there were two or three 964 or 993's in various states of restoration, and a proper "Miami Vice" Testarossa as well!

Damn that's one big ass car smile

I use Braunton Engineering - good results, they have diagnostics for latest Porsches which is attractive (my dash resembles christmas lighting up - in the christmas vacation chevvy chase lampoon style every other week!) Ashley has, more than twice plugged my 996 in and reset the airbag fault with no charge. Planning to book in to get the thing fixed (if only because a 3rd reset would be embarrassing)

I concur with the praise of Ashley and Braunton Engineering. Sorted a few problems out on my newly purchased TVR earlier this year and looks after her Truck!(Pajero) Good banter from Chris and the lads. Highly recommended. John042
