In case its of interest to anyone, the new pier has a couple F1 simulators.
Looks like they are c120k a pop! (judging by the link)

The one's in the pier are a bit better though as you have a couple seats off to the side/behind you so you can try and make your kids sick with you biggrin

looked quality, however i'd sunk a few beers en-route and didnt want to embarass myself getmecoat
£10 a go, but a good ride for 2 people, and an awesome drive for 1.

ETA - it was the mrs' idea to go. I had no choice, honest (hence the beers consumed before i could step foot on there!.. was worth it though. had a good time. getmecoat

nice one!.. checkout the lazer challenge while your there (up the escalator with the F1 simulators).. feels like your in mission impossible or something! basically make yor way to the end of the room, press a button and come back, but was a good laugh! dont waste your money choosing easy/medium option, me and the mrs did it on hard together (easy|med|hard|expert) and it was fairly easy .. i think on expert the lazers also move around rather than just a load of lazers to duck under/climb over biggrin ..

they have karts aswell tho looked a bit tame tbh. I plan on checking out the F1 sim at some stage tho for def smile

Oh I think i'm getting really old, £10 ago yikes

I'm still annoyed that pool tables increased from 20p a game, 10p each player seemed reasonable.. nice...

We went yesterday and unless I saw different ones the FI simulators appeared to be only £5 a go. I gave my lad the option of that or the Go Carts and he chose the Go Carts (also a fiver). Lesser rides appeared to be £3 a pop (I managed the dodgems smile )

V busy and I would get there as early as possible to get parking on the road (as opposed to the beach)

ah nice one!.. maybe the tenner a go was for opening day only (or theyve reduced price as no-one was stumping up! i saw one person on em all night).

a fiver is much more reasonable.

2 for the price of 1 - great!

What tracks do you get on it?

Do you get a choice of team?

Just been down for a go on this

Absolutely awesome!

Its quite a killer physically (particularly if you're a slightly overweight, unfit old git like me!)

Still not that many going on it (obviously £5/go plays a part!), even when like today the pier is absolutely stacked with people, though I suspect it would be more popular at night when older people can come down without having to get through crowds of kids (which after all is to be expected on a family pier!)

Only downer is the fact the wal behind states you can choose from an F1 car, Audi R10 Tdi and a few others, as welll as a variety of circuits (only one real life though) but apparently theyve had teething problems so they can only run Formula 1.

Its quite difficult, I had quite a few 'offs' but I'd imagine if you had more skill than me
(read: any!)
you'd get on quite well as my best lap time beat 4 out of the 5 on the board

I used to work as a Games Tester on the Geoff Crammond Grand Prix 3 and 4 PC games which at the time seemed quite cutting edge, but being in this thing with all the hydraulics and the weight of the steering is just something else - if they can get the various difficulty levels/cars/tracks going it'll be superb

Be quite cool to have a PH meet up some time actually - pit ourselves against each other before heading for a few beers?

Which track is the only real on available?

would be good to know the circuit before trying to set a good lap.

also, how long do you get on it?

Hi,

it wasnt an F1 track, cant remember the name but it rang bells

However, seems they are firmly locked in -

Generic F1 car
Fantasy F1 track
Easy mode

Try it though, trust me, you will NOT be dissaponited

You get 3 laps IIRC, so around 5 minutes

Went down today for a play finally, and yes it is awesome.

that have a sale on at the moment, its only £2.50 for 4 minutes if you buy a £10 credit thingy, they will also link your turns so you can use 8 minutes or whatever you like.

They a running a competition at the moment for fastest lap times. Unfortunately the people on the leader board are those who are on it every weekend the guy running them told me.

Leader baord ranged from 1:11.0 to 1:14.5 ish. after 6 goes i was only down to 1:15.9 and it was becoming clear finding the extra seconds wasnt going to be a 5 minute think.

still great fun, i will go back at some point for some more practice!
