As the title suggests, I need to remove an engine from my car, it doesn't weigh much.

Does anyone around the Plymouth area have a small engine crane I can borrow for a morning/afternoon next week?

Cheers for both offers, a bit far to go on both though. Looks like either 2/3 mates and brute force or HSS.

I should think 2 people could lift a motorbike engine? I have lifted a complete 1.9 TDI engine with the help of a mate into the boot of my car. Having said that, I was lucky I didn't put my back out as that thing weighed an absolute TON. biggrin

Thanks for the offers folks. Why do I live so far away from everywhere!?

Resorted to straps, planks shoulders and legs without too much trouble. Might come back to one of you when it comes to refitting though!

Thanks again.

Only just spotted who posted original thread and thought it's a bike engine - should be able to do it by yourself - you can with a bike but it's usually a case of balancing on a trolley jack & lifting in/out.

Would have thought the way you've done it is best: 2 people, scaffold tube & straps.

Just a final thought, as the R1 engine is on a slant & not too high, can you not put the car on ramps & jack the motor up from underneath?
