Well Paul (JDs_Paul) paid me a visit Tuesday just gone to give my Z some TLC. When I got the car it was covered in swirls, light scratches and all the rest.

Having talked a few times to Paul about getting the car detailed at various meets I finally had the spare wonga to justify getting it done.

So he and Darren turned up bright and early and set to work. I hadn't appreciated just how much kit was involved! I especially loved the filtration of the water being used to wash the car, clean enough to use in a tropical fish tank. That's the sort of attention to detail you want for your ride of joy!

If people want details on what was done I'll leave Paul to post the low down. Otherwise I'll let the pictures do the talking. I am so, so pleased with the result, couldn't wipe the smile off my face for the rest of the day! The pictures are really only half as good as seeing it in real life!

The ubiquitous before and after:

And a selection of shiny!

Cheers, was bouncing up and down having seen yours done! (Wow that is one hell of a difference!)

Haha while I'd love to have my 6 done, there are many, many many more priorities for the old girl!

What's the state of the TR6? Major works or list of fettles?

I've just been shopping online for the bits and bobs to keep the Jag tippety top. I may subject him to his first mini-valet next weekend as I'm off work this week and plan to do a few miles biggrin

That is some superb work. thumbup

If only my paint was good enough to justify it, if that doesn't sound mad.

I'm glad you liked the results, we enjoyed working on your car (perhaps apart from the several "key based" jokes at some fool's expense madlaugh). You should find that the paint will keep that look for a long time with a little care (not great for repeat business damn itcursesmile)

Cheers for that - a little bit of light work may still make a good difference to your car, it's just not worth an extensive detail if you are planning a respray.

Good working order, could pretty much get away without doing anything to it... However there is a major list of fettles wink

Plan with it is to keep it indefinitely, hope over time to turn it into a fast road car. I have a lot of plans and nowhere near enough money currently! She is a keeper though.

Have my products on order, car cleaning will never be the same again!

Out of interest, JDs Paul, would you prefer to work on a car after obvious body repair requirements had been fixed (so it all polishes together) or beforehand so that the full extent of possible paint damage can be assessed? I'm getting another Quattro that has lived outside for a while and whose paint has gone flat. It also has a scrape on a wing and an older panel repair that has gone bad and will need redoing. Not sure at which point to get involved. (I'll probably get you to do my TR6 too.)

nice work looks very good and excellent results, but the real satisfaction comes from doing it yourself.

We should ideally be the last people to touch the car as there is a danger that anyone working on it after us might (for might, see pretty much always!) put some new marring back into the finish (we are very fussy).

If you are in and around the Bristol area I expect I could arrange for Darren (one of the chaps who works with me) to come out for a free inspection and chat things over with you. He has done spraying/accident repair in the past and doesn't miss much. Just drop me a PM or contact us through the website and I'll give you a call to see what we can arrange.
