Hi all,

Search facility not working. So, would be grateful for any recommendations for a respray. I need to get my front bumper done as it's chipped to xxxx. The only quote I've had so far is £600 ish from Autotech in Andoversford.

Cheers.

I'm not able to recommend, but £600 is a bit steep for just a bumper! Are they blending other parts of the car to match?

If it's just chipped then maybe a decent spot repair would do.

It looks like pebble dash, so I think it's beyond a touch up. Just remembered, was also quoted by Dick Lovetts at £750!! Must be somewhere locally more competitive?

Where are you? I've used Smart Autocentre for a few jobs, based in Fishponds, Bristol and seem pretty good. Competitive prices, too- Had an A4 bonnet and front wings resprayed, and the rest of the car touched up for about £200.

Ah, in that case I probably would want somewhere a little more pukka- I was quite pleased with the job on the A4 apart from one small run, however I think a Ferrari desrves a really decent job...

Talking with the guys who detailed my Jag yesterday they have heard good things about Brin Jones in Filton, but have not viewed the work themselves.

I have seen some good reviews online.

Ferrari 360? Forget my earlier suggestions then.

You could possibly do worse than here:

http://www.jb-autos.co.uk/showroom.html

Judging by some of the cars he's showing here and also the photos he has up in the workshop, he's had some tasty stuff in there.

I haven't had respray work done there, however he did machine polish out several scratches on my car last week for a tenner and did a good job of it too.

Detailer, was talking to me about him the other day. Said it was the best he'd seen in a very long time (and he knows his paintwork). As long as you get the man himself doing the work it should be great. Problem with many paintshops is having the guy who did the fab job do yours! Hence it's very hard to make a recommendation except when it's a one man band.

Hi gd47,i run a 27 year old 911 porsche and recently had a really nasty large stone chip in the front part of my bonnet,i took it to my local spray shop which is run by a guy called Dave Bimson,Dave has loads of experience working on porsche and other exotica and made a brilliant job of my car,he has also done my front bumper and again, brilliant,he charged me £330.00 for the bonnet,i supplied the paint which i already had mixed,so depending on how far you want to travel i would recommend him very highly,he is in a small village in Devon just off of junction 25 m5,his company is called D.B.BODY'S,CULMSTOCK RD,HEMYOCK,DEVON,EX15 3RJ. 01823 681499 FAX 01823 681228.
Give him a ring you wont be disappointed. andy miles 1983 estoril blue 911sc.

Thanks all. Danny - Asla is the main man apparently but pricey and also overbooked according to folk on the Ferrari website. No harm in asking for a quote I guess.

Cheers

Try BP Motor Bodybuilders in Cheltenham. They've done some work on my BMW, it's good quality and they're competitive on price.

No website though....

I have and was happy with the work done, good attention to detail and true to his word on costs etc. I have just found out my car is in the 'showroom' so will have to ask where my credit note is smile

Just called J and B

Given me a 'ball park' figure of 500(ish) for bonnet and wing respray (after telling them its Carbon Black metallic)

Seemed very helpful, going to go and see them as soon as I get chance
