We went not long after it opened and it was a bit of a disapointment. For some reason he was running out of meals on the menu by 7:45 and what ever we asked for it seemed like we had just missed the last one. I think we ended up having a choice of two starter and two mains in the end.
This could have much improved since then, but if I was being honest I couldn't actually see where the money went.
You could always try Hugh's place at River Cottage if you want a meal out. He's a bit dear and you only get whats on the menu that night but I haven't heard many complaints.

Mrs particularly wanted to go (Masterchef fan, and she used to live close by at Mosterton)
So I guess we'll see!
I would like to know what its like now, now its had chance to settle down, but I don't think you can fail to be a bit peaved if your getting your third choice of meal. The service was great though.
It didn't help, my mate, who we went with had a right mush on before we got there.
Anyway, if you go, let me know how things went.

Hi,
had the meal last night and have to say I was very impressed with it all
We were given a great table for 2 in the window which was quite nice and as I would have expected given the length of time in advance we booked (around 2 months)
We didn't have starters so I cant comment on the quality of them though the ones brought to other diners looked very nice.
We were given a good selection of spiced nuts and fresh breads with olive oil and balsamic - all very nice.
It appeared that all main courses were available for us (we certainly weren't told any were unavailable) - around 5 choices plus 2 specials (one was fish)
Jane had Duo of Pork, I had Fillet Steak.
My choice of fillet steak meant a lot as I am constantly dissapointed with the quality of steak that I'm served in England (the last really decent steak I had was in Florida), so it was the ultimate test for them.
I need not have worried, the quality of both the meat and the way it was cooked was superb, so tender, so tasty!
The smoked mash and veg served with the steak were also excellent.
Jane's duo of Pork was a terrine of Pork and Pork chop with crackling - possibly the Pork was a little pink, but only just and still tasted great.
We had a great bottle of Shiraz (very smooth and fruity) that was £19 - not out of the way considering the location and quality of the wine.
For desert I had trio of Chocolate (Choc Orange Ice cream, Brownie and a Choc Cardamon mousse).
All of these were great, though the Ice Cream was a little too sweet (and I have quite a sweet tooth).
Jane had Damson and Apple crumble with Creme Anglaise - I ended up wishing I had this - it was very tasty with toasted crumble and a very tart fruit puree.
I finished with a port (the only port they sold - found that quite odd?), the port seemed to be served in rather a large glass compred to normal port servings (fortified wines can get a bit much after 2 or 3 mouthfuls).
Service throughout was attentive without being intrusive and the whole place had a great atmosphere with a wide variety of diners
In short - I'd recommend it and will be going back!
(cost - £70 for 2 courses, wine, port and 1 coffee)
