Hi All

Am thinking about getting my ST220 wheels refurbished in the new year. Can anyone recommend a place in or near Bristol?

I have heard good things about The Wheel Specialist in Cwmbran but it's a little far and I would have to spend the day wandering around Cwmbran while I waited - not really what I want to do if I can help it! (Though worthwhile if they really are that good)

I have been quoted £320 for all 4 wheels from them - is this about standard cost or is this at the pricey end of the scale?

Cheers

Martin

Make sure you avoid 'Wonder Wheels', Bristol.....awful workmanship......for the money quoted from the Cwmbran lot I'd like to think they are powder coated and not just sanded and painted!

I regularly use TWS in Cwmbran and they are good - strip back to bare metal then powdercoat.

other options I know about are lepsons in Swindon.

£320 for a set is about right. There are some mobile ones, but the main problem is they usually only do the faces and not the insides, or inside the tyre - and they tend to paint over the old finish.

Yeah, I spoke to Lepsons this morning and they want £252 + VAT which is the best option I've found so far, and I have heard good things about them so may give that a shout when I can afford it!

Lepsons have been recommended to me too, I plan to take the Monaro there so I'll be keen to see how you get on.

Well unfortunately I'm not going to be able to afford it until the new year - but will let you all know how I get on when I do go smile

'Wonder Wheels' have a running theme here don't they? He painted (badly) over dirt on my wheels and they were flaking and bubbling within a week! He then refused to answer his phone and just kept texting he'd be in touch! His invoice states 'wheels as good as new' - yeah right. £200 wasted!!!! I'm reporting him to 'trading standards'....if they get enough complaints then maybe they'll close him down!

Thanks guys, I was just about to get Wonder Wheels to refurbish 4 wheels, he didn't turn up on time and while looking on the net I started reading Piston Head revues, It looks like I have saved £200 and a crap job, am now taking them to DMD. Thanks!

If you don't mind me asking, how much was that?

I've just had a bit of paintwork done there. Second time I've used him. Thoroughly impressed.
