Decent in doors Go Kart Centres South West
Discussion
Hey guys,
Going to be orgaising a go kart day for a large group of people over the winter however I have no idea what companies are any good around the South West. Due to the time of year I think an Indoors centre would be best and I would like one that actually lets people race (rather than cut the power on the quicker drivers).
Any ideas?

Raceworld in Exeter is ok, but it's absolutely tiny, i've been there a few times & it's not all that great to be honest.
It's fairly pricey too.
There's a track all be it outdoors in Newquay called St Eval's that's a good laugh & the same sort of price as Raceworld but about 10 x the size.
Don't Dunkerswell have one aswell?

Yeah, but it's not your arrive and drive scene, it's bring your own car, and equipment and pay your membership fee affair. The 2 I know of are raceworld at exeter, which is good for an afternoon laugh, but a small track, and clay pidgeon between Yeovil and Dorchester.

Bear in mind that it's single level and layout is restricted.http://www.southwestkarting.co.uk/

The Raceway at Avonmouth is pretty good.
Yeah I'll vote for that, been a few times and it's good. They're currently building anorth 100 foot extension on the side of the Raceworld building near Exeter. Should be better. Was there this weekend for a mates birthday and for £30 quid we all did the full Grand Prix thing which involved a short practise time, 10 min qualifying and a full 12 lap race. They always replace their karts every 18 months so always good ones there. Think they were 200cc ones. They do have remote cut-off ability, which is fair enough for safety. Timing gear down to 0.001'th of a second.
Sure its a short track but to manage to get a 24 / 25 second laptime out of a relatively small warehouse means you still have plenty of fun. The "bigger" Raceworld is opening early next year I gathered from the owners.
PS: They do have to charge a reasonable amount as rent on an indoor place isn't cheap (£70k a year!) and insurance is also not cheap in that line of busness. Then costs of kart R&R, fuel, etc.

the raceway at avonmouth is really good. its a good set up and the track is a good challenge probably the best indoor place i have raced at bar the posh daytona one near wembley.
clay pigeon is ace, if people dont mind the cost, the difference between that and an indoor place is immense. i find people with limited experience dont like it though and feel far more comfortable with tyres lining the track rather than a regular outdoor track with kerbs etc so do keep your fellow racers in mind!
