BRISTOL CITY COUNCIL HAS IGNORED YOU!
Bristol City Council's ruling Cabinet (8 Liberal Democrat councillors) decided, at its meeting on July 22nd, to implement the proposed Residents' Parking scheme in Kingsdown.
This is despite the fact that the response to the recent public consultation was overwhelmingly against going ahead!
Of the 1037 responses to the Council's consultation, 995 were against and only 42 were in favour.
The response from roads within the scheme boundary was 473 against and just 27 for. Many of the others were from people living just outside the area who would be directly affected.
154 public statements were made to the meeting - 129 were against and only 24 were in favour.
What part of this does our council not understand?
Strangely, there is no straightforward legal route to reverse this clearly undemocratic decision.
However, Councillor Alex Woodman, councillor for Kingsdown, who backed proceeding with the scheme, is due for re-election next May - just 9 months' time.
If you agree with us that it is wrong to go against such massive public opposition please email Councillor Alex Woodman and tell him what you think. His email address is: alex.woodman@bristol.gov.uk

I remember they tried this in Clifton a few years back but the residents managed to finish it off.Good job too ,thin end of the wedge.
Yes but Clifton has a very high level of Barristers Drs etc who will not role over. BCC hate cars, they are trying to introduce work place parking charges which will drive jobs away. They think they know best when it comes to punishing you, remember Sustrans is Bristol based and lobby well and the bus company also has a hand in trying to steer a direction that favours them.

Disgraceful but then see the uproar they've created by refusing planning permission for the new Sainsburys at Ashton Gate, they even went against the advice of their planning advisors. It was thought they'd agree to it.
You can't quite work out the level of muppetry and unco-ordinated thinking that goes on at Bristol City council.Sainsburys want to develop the entire Ashtongate site. Bristol City Council owned a large car park used by the football club for years (between the stadium and the 4 "shed" + KFC retail park). Apparantly the city gave this carpark away to the club for zero consideration. Why? If Sainsburys want to pay millions to the club for the whole site, why aren't the people of Bristol benefitting from this "windfall" from Sainsburys for the portion of the site owned by the City?
As for the planning fiasco, this will go to appeal, the councillors vote will be overruled, the city will be found liable for all the additional legal costs and perhaps the consequential losses of the businesses caused by the delays. All because the council have acted against the advice of their specialist advisors etc.
An awful lot of self interest skullduggery going on here and it's not from Sainsburys or the football club.
The local people want the larger football stadium, the larger sainburys and the old sainsbury site switched to housing. A huge number of local jobs depend on it from both the redevelopment of the sites and the ongoing larger businesses. Even the rates take at the council would rise significantly with the proposed changes.
This parking thing? A fraction of the self interest and incompetence that goes on with these City Council feckwits.

I didn't agree with Tesco because that would have meant two large supermarkets very close together, having Sainsbury move their store was ideal and then having land free for houses instead of threatening the green parks around the city!
The excuses from the council for not agreeing were poor at best imo.
