1. Take a helmet if you have one
2. Check oil / water etc. on your car before you set off
3. Check your tyres for nails / stones etc (some tread might also be a good idea)
4. Check your tyre pressures - I'm taking a small compressor and digital tyre gauge so that I can change the tyre pressures if I feel I need to.
5. Make sure you have plenty of brake pads left before you start
6. Clean your windscreen inside and outside
7. Final lap of your session, slow down as this will allow your car to cool rather than screeching to a halt in the pits smile
8. Remember to leave your car in gear but don't put the handbrake on after your session otherwise you will warp your discs and / or end up with the handbrake pads stuck to the discs

Anyone else think of any other useful tips?

Drive within the limits of your track experience and your cars, road tyres and pads can go off very quickly on track.check your mirrors as often as you can, being mindful not to hold up quicker cars, dont panic if you are, wait for a suitable straight to indicate, slow down and move over.

Good tips Vette.

Fill up with a full tank of nice tasty Super Unleaded.

Take food/water, tracking can be thirsty work, and it's a long evening.

Umbrella - there's nothing worse than not being able to mingle and nose at other peoples cars if it's raining.

Make sure your tow hook is handy or even installed.

Clean your wing mirrors.

Wear most suitable footwear available for driving.

Check auto-trans fluid on auto boxes, as well as brake/power steering fluid before setting off.

Don't do what I did last time and forget to take a card or chequebook.... Luckily, my mate paid for all of us with a very old chequebook found under his passenger seat!

Take cash for the pub.

Drive safe, and we'll all enjoy.

Good point about the fuel.......although there is a BP garage from memory about a mile from the airport towards Staverton........should anyone need fuel.

I will have to drive gently, mpg can go down to 6 on a track and I have a 10 gallon tank. I think a lap is about 1.7 miles , so I only get to do 6 laps! Might ask Mrs Blue to attend with spare fuel as long as she doesn't expect to run the Outback around the track!

Shell on Lansdown Road sells Super, it's the main road in to town, a few minutes from the airport.

There's a Texaco too, but it's about 2p a litre more expensive than the Shell garage, which is 250m further up the road. wink

Don't worry too much, I only live up the road and have a 10L jerry can you can borrow if you need it.

Get your foot down!
