There is a very good chance that my track car may be having a magazine shoot done in the next few weeks, but I cant think of anywhere other than Combe itself as a good location.

Do you guys know of any good locations that would be ideal for a track car photo shoot in the Bristol area?

Did my photo shoot at Combe...and worked out brilliantly!

Best shot was under the Dunlop bridge! Sitting on the track at Camp corner would look awsome also, but the track was live at the time...so I think a few might have objected!

Having lived in Bristol, I cant think of a place I would suggest. St Pauls would be a place to avoid though....might get nicked lol

What did you have to do in order to get permission to shoot there?

I'd really like it to be there as its the only place the car goes other than my garage!

I asked if anyone objected, but I did it at a race day, and no one thought anything of it. So get the photographer along on a track day and fill your boots. If its a track day, Im sure you will be able to ask if you can use part of the circuit at lunch time.

Cheddar Gorge?
Clifton Suspension Bridge/Avon Gorge?
Royal Crescent in Bath (interesting contrast of track car and georgian architecture)?
Any old warehouses around that could provide a post-industrial backdrop?

Theres Leigh Court just outside of Bristol:

Or an urban shot:

The urban shot (a cropped different angle of it) was actually used in the 2010 Esprit calendar. The wall is near Cameron balloons in Bedminster, Bristol.

It all depends on what image you want to create smile

I have a vague memory of some picturesque gardens / country park just round the corner from Gordano services? I remember now = Ashton Court. Not sure how far you can get to the main building, etc

Car mags often get pix almost underneath the Severn Bridge (the first one) but i'm not sure that it's open to the great unwashed.

Yep, it is open to the public - you can get a great shot of the car with the old bridge in the background.

Another option if you go to Combe is then to pop down to the manor house....and take some pictures there.

How's about using a track day at one of the local air fields = action shots as well as static?

Noticed this popped up again.

We ended up at Combe in the end, they were more than happy to let us use the grounds and also the circuit itself for our shoot.

There was a bike track day there and they let us onto the track during the lunch break.

Great choice of location! One that did me some great favours as I said.

Are you going to share any of the pictures??

I have some low-res unprocessed versions I could post up later, cant load the uploader at work.

He got some great shoots when a massive rain cloud came in, the sky was split between light and dark horizontally and produced a really dramatic effect.
