I've gone and volunteered to give Mrs G a lift in a couple of weeks so that she can make her TV debut as an extra on Casualty! We're going down the night before and staying in the city before an early start on the Wednesday. SHe'll be filming all day, leaving me to entertain myself in the city.

So what's good and what isn't in Bristol, on a Wednesday in July?

Interesting, thought they stopped filming it in Bristol ages ago?

It is currently filmed in a warehouse/industrial estate in Bristol but the whole lot moves to Wales next year.

Do they still have the flyover in the titles? I haven't watched in ages but they used it for a long time after it was demolished.

The SS Great Britain is, if you'll pardon the expression, great. I went once as there was a classic car meet just nearby and only had a quick look around, but the ticket gives you free re-admission for a year so I went back when I had longer. If you like ships and history (both engineering and social) I can't think of a better way to kill a few hours.

And as said, there are some great pubs serving excellent beers - why not have a long, lazy lunch afterwards and get your other half to drive home?
